Yep the rear passenger side has failed 3 times now and the window hasn't even been used. This time they replaced just the Lift Plate assembly (CDCZX27CAB) with a new part that the dealer said they were now using, so hopefully it'll last longer.

On a positive note Chrysler Consumer Affairs is paying 75% of the $159 the dealer charged to repair and said they would replace any others that fail as long I own the vehicle. It's strictly a per incident claim I was told were the customer has to call in for approval.

Luckily the 3 that failed out of the factory warranty have been covered this way. Sure would be nice if Chrysler would just go ahead and authorize the dealers to handle this.

I have never had a single problem with the windows on my 2002 CRD....maybe I have just jinxed it by saying this now.....I hope not!
I seem to have had a lot less problems with my 2002 model than most owners of other models; maybe the workers put a bit more care and attention in getting the first models for the Export market to a high level of reliability!

No it hasn't been the same mechanic and Chrysler is quite aware of this ongoing issue with KJ window regulators. My dealer says they have done many on the KJ's and keep the parts in stock all the time now. Even the Chrysler customer care rep. acknowledged the issue on their part.

Let me Google that for you: Jeep Window Regular Failure

I've had over 9 fail. All rear windows, and mainly (7) the driver's side.

Finally, I bought and installed the Stieger Performance kits for both rear windows. No problems since

If you ever see how flimsy the peice of plastic is that holds everything up, you'll wonder how you even got it home from the dealership.

Free replacement or not - It still costs me my time... Not to mention I no longer have to cary a big roll of painters tape just in case...

Stieger is the only way to go. I agree that plastic piece is a joke. I hold it up there with oil dissolvable bushings directly beneath an oil filter ;)
