Happy Easter everyone. I am the new owner (1 day) of a 2006 Liberty Sport. We are thinking of attending one of the Jeep Jamboree events and I would feel more comfortable having skip plates. Any suggestions on brands, where to buy? Are they easy to install by a person with limited mechanical skil, i.e. a klutz, i.e., me? Also I see that tow hooks are required. I would love suggestions for these as well?? We are not going to be doing any heavy off roading, I would just like skid plates for piece of mind, just in case.

Thanks all,

Craig

Mopar skids are probably the best bet, Kilby or Skid Rows are better, and stronger, but way more $$$. Tow hooks, Mopar is the only option. Check jparts.com.

Not sure on all but I do know that the local JJ crew will check out any/all IFS Jeeps for
skids ,they are required as the trails are harder
our KJ with 2" of lift and 245/75 MTR's would bottom out quite often
we were the reason for the requirement
we would go on many of the "work days" as a "tester"

the OE skids are fine but the trans skid needs to be after market
we have ruined more than a few

It really is a good idea to have a full set of skids. Even OME lifted with 22.34" up front, the first time I went wheeling, without them, I would have had serious damage!
Even though my rocky mountain edition came with all the skids including gas tank, transfer case, and engine, I had to add the transmission skid.
I may consider now make something to cover the cats as well.
Unfortunately if you go into mud, it is quite a mess to try to clean out the skids after.
I took my ****** skid to the next level & really painted and clear coated it, with some fancy pinstripe for fun.
It is the only one that can be washed easily.
