I'm not sure about the kit quality, but for that price, you can get OME springs which I do know the load ratings for, and you can customize your spring rate (stock, medium duty, heavy duty). This allows you to go stiffer up front for example if you plan to add a custom bumper, which would add weight and cause a stock rate spring to sag quickly.

Check out http://jeepinbyal.com/cat-Old_Man_Emu_Suspension_Products-32.aspx

You can get a set of springs for about $320. And for the top plate, Boiler (a member here) sells a plate for I think about $40/pr. These add about 3/8" to the top of the strut assembly, giving the front end a leveled off look.

Then you can customize your shock selection. Most of us used Rancho RSX shocks, but they discontinued that line. Now members are going with Bilstein, which from what I've heard, is really the best shock on the market these days. I also saw where OME came out with a new sport shock. Not much info on those yet, but still another option.

I think if you look around here...you'll see that plenty of us newer members started off asking lots of questions, and we all finally decided to go with some form of an OME lift.

The biggest decision is whether to go heavy duty or medium duty with your front springs (I think the general consensus is to ALWAYS use heavy duty rear springs). It all comes down to what kind of ride you want, and what you plan to do in the future (bumper, winch, etc.)

Me personally, I put the medium duty springs up front so my springs are 926/948. I like the ride. Not too harsh, but a HUGE improvement over stock. Plus I gained about 2" lift over my stock sagged springs.

Do your research and make sure you're happy with your final decision. That's about the best advice I could give you.

Just some more info
BDS when first looking at it looks cheaper but you do not get front/rear shocks with it so figuring in those then price is about the same BDS/OME and whatever shocks
BDS does have a higher spring rate in front than the OME 927s ( heavy duty)
Have heard a couple of complaints on the BDS but not much, have installed one lift with BDS compared to 19 OME's now

JUST relooking at this kit ( BDS) you have to now buy the rear shocks as well for 50 bucks for the cheapies and 140 extra for the gas charged , dang ! Not a good deal you have 613 bucks just in springs and rear shocks
so you are cheaper going OME, 4 springs are 320 then front and rear shocks and the other extras

the 4wd.com "Store brand" is really a bds kit with red boots if you really want to order the bds kit.... it does come with rear shocks, but not the front.

OK had to look some parts up for a customer so heres the lowdown
BDS kit is 473.60 then you have to buy front and rear shocks
so cheapest for a complete BDS is around 813 using Bilstein shocks from shockwarehouse
NOW a full OME kit with springs and shocks from jeepinbyal is 750
OME springs and Bilstein shocks is 660

mmmm something to think about
free shipping on shocks from shockwarehouse

of course on any it would be wise to use front Teraflex bumpstops and depending on how you want to go with extra in the front and rear

NOTE:
if thinking the BDS kit look close one place it says standard shocks are 50 more another place it says they are included so not sure without wasting more time

My BDS kit came with rear shocks. Not sure if they have changed between now and when I got mine back in March of 2010. I just added the front shocks and JBA 4.5 UCAs.

yeah....looking at the original link, the kit description does show that it includes the rear shocks...but really, you may as well just get what you want. for the price of that BDS kit, you're spending $150 on rear shocks alone when compared to the $320 for the OME kit.

BDS has a pretty nice "NO BS" warranty ( http://bds-suspension.com/policies#warranty )
And BDS products are made/sold in the USA. I have OME springs (bought used) in my KJ, but if I had to do it again, I would probably deeply consider the BDS springs.

Thats the reason I bought BDS as opposed to the OME. Spring rating is a tad higher on the BDS springs as well. Yes you ultimatley end up spending more money but a life time NO-BS warranty on the springs and rear shocks was enough to sell it for me. I had to take mine apart once to install new front shocks but it wasn't really that big of a deal as I was installing my JBA UCAs and doing a clevis lift at the same time.

and to clear things up, BDS will NOT warranty shocks for degradation in performance, as they are a wear item...

the spring rates for the bds springs are 435lbs front and 210lbs rear and the heavy duty OMEs (front 927 is 400 lbs and 790s are 500lbs) and i could not turn up anything definite on the rear OME springs as far as rate goes but i did look at buying just springs on the BDS site and the price for the front pair is 247.85 and the rear pair is 131.11 which comes out to 378.96 for springs alone or as tommudd said the kit with springs, hardware, rear nitro shocks and shock boots is 623.40 add in the teraflex front bumpstops (19.99 each on quadratec) and approximately 12 bucks for 4 hockey pucks and your at 675.38 and then if ive done my homework correctly then all you may need is new front shocks and you will be set to go from the looks of the install of the bds kit the front is designed to work with stock sized front shocks which means a set of rancho rs9000xl's is an option which was 103.99 on quadratec bringing the grand total of the bds lift to 779.37 plus shipping charges and tax for some states....(new york *****) the OME kit with springs and all 4 shocks is 749.99 on quadratec and after the bumpstops and hockey pucks is 801.97...so there is the verdict i believe ive looked into everything, if not someone correct me so a) nobody gets screwed over cause i missed something and b) so i dont short myself....just trying to help but this has changed my mind i think i will be going with the BDS lift, my cousin has a BDS lift on his s10 pick up and hes had it one for a good 15000 miles and very little to almost no sag from what i can see and me being a perfectionist about dumb stuff i cant even help i tend to notice those sorts of things. i have emailed rancho to make sure the shocks i priced out will work for the bds lift, once i know for sure i will be sure to post and let everyone know. hope this helps someone.

i looked at the 4wd kit i think it just comes with regular hydraulic shocks not the nitro charged shocks not to mention although from the looks of the install guide pdf they have on the site it is the BDS kit i dont know if BDS will cover it under their warranty due to 4wd hardware'slogo on it...so for nitro charged shocks and peace of mind im goin BDS
