Hey guys,

I put my jeep into 4low the other day and had a real hard time getting it out. Tried the standard backing up, turning off the jeep, letting it roll, etc etc. nothing was working. What ended up happening is I rushed things a little bit and ended up forcing it, it would seem. When i got it back to the floor, I was still in 4low, and the shifter was just freely moving. We took apart the center console and found the metal parts that connects to the shifter was bent in a U shape. It supposed to be straight. It was not even in the shifter handle anymore, all that came out. We were able to get the transfer case into "FULL TIME" (Select trak, it has full time and part time 4 wheel) I cant manually move the lever anymore. All Wheel drive is not a terrible mode to be stuck in. But I am trying to replace this bent metal shaft that connects to the cable that does all the magic.
I have searched everywhere. I can even find the entire cable assembly, let alone just the metal piece I bent to hell.
If anyone can tell me what its called, or a part number, or a link to anything helpful, I would greatly appreciate that.
I will be contacting the dealer on Monday, I am sure they "might know" what I am talking about.

Thanks guys
-Shane

I have a brand new NP242 shifter assembly, I'd let it go for $50 shipped to the 48 states. LMK.

Wonder what is causing this issue? Lack of grease on linkage or is this an internal problem?
For those that have this problem..check your transfer case..you full of ATF+4 in there or low?

checked the fluid levels today...all was good, still couldn't knock it out of 4lo so i took it to the dealer the guy there said if the 4wd doesn't get used very often it sticks the fix was to put the jeep on the lift and release the pressure and it came right out of lo

now i just have a broken transfer case lever

P.S. they also said a common problem was the tires sometimes have different levels of air and that reaks havoc in the transfer case apparently

tires wearing unevenly causes it too. If I remember right it doesn't take much of a diameter difference between tires.
