Okay, got a problem with my Jeep. Has anyone had any issues with the fuel tank overflowing? I have tried stopping the pump half way through the fill-up to let the air pocket out, pumping the tank myself instead of having the auto lock on, and putting the pump nozzle in my tank as far as I could. I only had it where the tank didn't over flow twice since I bought it in September.

Any ideas on what it would be? The boyfriend is stumpt on it. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

did you try holding the handle at a 90 or 180 degree angle to what you might normally do? I have had to do that on some vehicles in the past

Our Dodge Caravan was like that. Once it clicked you couldn't put anymore in or you would be wearing it! Our Impala I can go on and on before it tops off.

My KJ is like that... I haven't had any problems with overflow (yet). Wonder if it could be year-specific?

I'm not sure why, but the same happened to me once. Looked down and noticed that gas was all over the side of my jeep and on the ground. Wierd thing is that it didn't click to let me know it was full. That's why I now only fill it up 3/4 of the way.

That's exactly what happened to mine. I did the 90 degree angle trick and it worked!!!! Thanks everyone!

Mine overflows a few times a year. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason.

I mostly use the same gas station, same pump and I make sure the line isn't bound. I make sure the nozzle is sitting in the slot the proper way. Every once in a while though, it will overflow before it clicks off.

Drives me crazy.

I just wash the ara off when I get home.

The only times I had this problem was when I had that heavy trailer sitting on it, and the back end was all bottomed out. figuring the angle made a major difference in the gas tank vent that ties into the top of the filler tube. Figuring that maybe the angle made it so it didn't spurt back some fuel to make the handle shut off. wondering if the other kj's with the issue are sitting low in the back, or pointed uphill at the fuel island
