My 2004 KJ Sport has no skid plates. I was thinking of checking salvage for a Renegade and grabbing all the skids and the tow hooks.

Are the OE skids any good? Or should I just skip the trouble and drop the cash for aftermarkets.

This ,as far as I know, is the case with every Jeep model

I run the factory skids, better than no skids.

X2, I had to modify my front skid a bit as it is for a 05 and newer, one of the holes didn't line up so I had to just drill a hole and bolt it that way.. still works.
pics before I made a hole and bolted it the rest of the way up.

Thanks for the info guys. The recipe is slowly coming together for my KJ project.

My buddy's step daughter has a 02 Rennie and I've threatened that I'm going to cannibalized her Jeep for parts. She most likely never sees gravel anyway:emotions34:

@tjkj2002= Love the battle damage on your skids:rocking: Probably won't be beating mine that hard, but I still want some armor for the underbelly.

I've heard the engine skid referred to as a "shovel." Does it have a tendency to pick up alot of cabbage from the trail, or isn't it that bad?

you should totally jack the skids, she probably wouldnt even notice.

Yeah, but my buddy wants the Rennie when she trades for something else, so he wouldn't be too pleased:disgust:

.....but then again he already has a YJ, ...so maybe...

I tried a few scrap yards and they all said the same. They remove EVERYTHING from underneath and sell it as scrap metal. :( what a waste
