KK Front Bumper Guard/Grille Guard Options?

Hey guys, I'm new to this forum and I'm gathering info for my sister's KK, I actually own an XK myself and I was looking for a grille guard similar to this one: http://www.4xguard.com/Product/Matrix.html. I wanted buy her a guard for her KK since she already has a couple of dings from parking in city streets and would definitely benefit from the added protection. I have searched in Google and a bit through this forum but I really didn't find too many options or one that I liked. I really like the Mopar grille guard but I'm greatly disappointed that it is mounted with only 4 plastic rivets, one good hit on the guard and those rivets will break. Is there something similar to that that is more solid?

What guards do you guys have on your KK? Can you post pics?

to my knowledge there arent many if any functional grill guards similar to that for KK or KJ. atleast ones that are as attractive as that.

Id love to hear of some though.

True replacement off-road bumpers are not yet available for the KK.

For just a decorative brush guard, Steelcraft is the only maker of one I'm aware of. Here's a post from another Jeep board of a KK owner who has installed one of them. Or, you can find link to Steelcraft's install instructions, with pictures, here under "grill guard".

I've had Mopar's grill guard as shown below, and its held on by metal fasteners. Even though its made of metal and held on with metal fasteners, its still attached to the plastic bumper area so its still not very structural.




Keep your interest up for modifying your KK. Although our aftermarket product options are limited, it still is fun to modify and wheel and the more interest for aftermarket KK products, the more likely we'll attract some company's attention and see more aftermarket products.

Yeah I have the Mopar one as well. It's not really going to protect you from much other than rock chips. I just liked the way it looked.

I still cannot believe that retail price on the Mopar one was something like $475:smokin:

Thanks guys for the information. I do like the look of the Mopar but as I suspected it doesn't seem like it's structurally sound. I guess we'll keep waiting until something is eventually created with form and function.

Go to LOST, look for a dude from Ottawa named Boblemouche. He built his own front bumper and I believe he did a rear bumper as well. Sweet looking gear.

KK KJ Fron Bumper replacement

I realize this is an older post but I thought I might update it anyway.

Rocklizard Fabrications is making a BOLT together front replacement for the KK. It is not bad looking but being a bolt together it is not as strong as and ARB or something else.

ARB does make a replacement Bumber for the KJ Liberty. This looks really nice and I am hoping they will make one for the KK, as I would buy the first one.

Rock Lizard stopped production on the KK line of bumpers
ARB will never make one for the KK I doubt, not enough demand sadly

You either need to get in touch with AtTheHelm on Lost or custom build your own now.
