Hello, friends, i'm newbie on this forum so please do me a favor. Besides, i'm not sure in my english. Hope you understand me..
So, the question.
Part # 5142799AA (called "Throttle Body" or "throttle valve") has died on my KJ (2006) 2.8 CRD over a week ago. I have no CEL yet, but i hear the buzzing from this unit all the time and it upset me too much((
Can anyone tell me where i can get one in US? The price of russian dealers on it is too high (over $1000) because they take parts for diesel only in Europe and no deliveries from US.

Thanks/From Russia with Jeep

One option is to pull the butterfly valve and toss it. Turob Tim (search LOST Jeeps) has designed a unit called the SEGR that renders the EGR inoperative. Unlike a gasoline engine, the EGR does nothing to enhance the operation or performance of a diesel engine, it is a purely Legislative thing to reduce Nitrous Oxides of which Agriculture produces 6.9 time more than all the cars, trucks, suvs, trains, plains, boats, and ships combined. Some like me believe the inspiration for the legislation came from ingestion of hallucinogenic substances like LSD. If you live in Russia and do not travel the restricted areas of Europe or are plan a driving trip to California. Install an SEGR and plate off the EGR.
Any good electronics technician can build and install an SEGR unit.

The internal plastic crap gears in your FCV (Flow Control Valve) are broken.

It now stays open all the time. You can disconnect it but then the CEL light in the dash ( engine trouble light) will come on.

You can either ignore it, or replace the FCV....

What does this FCV do:

It closes completely when you shut down your engine so it cannot suck in any more air and dies like a gasoline engine would.

It closes like 50% when the EGR is open to create enough 'vacuum' to suck bad exhaust fumes into the combustion chamber.

You do not really need this FCV. If I was you I would just disconnect it and ignore the CEL light.

(CEL means Check Engine Light, the little yellow engine that lights up in your dash)

If you decide to change the FCV do not buy one from JEEP, they will charge you around $825 for it, get one from Italy (home of VM Motori) here:

Ask for a corpo-farfallato for a KJ...
