Clutch went but compessor is fine. I looked for a new mopar clutch but they are real expensive like 300 bucks and only dealers sell them???? so I decided to get a new or reman compressor as i can get one of those for about 200.

I know when a compessor blows you need to replace the accumulator, the orifice tube, and dryer as the blown compressor clogs everything up with chewed up rubber. But, since mine didn't blow should I go to the effort and expense of replacing that stuff or just throw a new compressor on it?

I got a bypass going with a shorter belt on it right now so no rush, just sweating my butt off.

my cluch burnt up a last week too, got a new compressor and dryer since the sytem was going to be open and no cluch failure, the A/C Expansion Device I did not replace since it is inside the ac tube itself and can not be pulled out with out replacing that part of the tube

here is a decent link for ac compressors,

To keep any sort of warranty on that compressor you will need to replace all of those parts(receiver/dryer and orifice tube) and have proof.

I took mine to a shop and they got the parts, warranty 1year or 12k(in writing), not great, but better then alot of places that would only warranty the parts and not there labor, I called about 8 places when getting mine done

To expensive for my KJ, I got 156K on it

And I am going to be getting a 4dr JK in about 2 or 3 years. I don't care much about warranty as I am going to get a cheap reman or new non oem off ebay or from discount. Those guys say they have a warranty but unless you buy retail and pay 300+ its like pulling teeth to get them to honor it. Even then got hoops to jump through.

I already read the warranty fine print from bunches of them and basically I have to have documentation from a service shop for warranty. I can replace the whole system myself with how much a shop is going to charge in labor and off course if it fails they only cover parts not labor. As a result I do almost all my own work. Just replaced CV, hub bearing and rotors on the front.

I am just looking for advice as far as does the system get dirty even though the compressor is ok, so should I got to the expense of the new accum and dryer, and also where is the damn orifice tube. I know its by the evaporator but I can't find it!
