Does anyone know of a good 'how-to' for this? There are a couple out on LOST... one is so old that the pictures that used to be there are now gone. :( The other is one that MtnLuvr did for the KK... so I'm entirely sure if it'll work with the KJ.

It's my intention to work on this next weekend. For now I'm going to print out both instructions - the one with no pics, and the ones for the KK - and hope that between the two, I can make it work.

If anyone else knows of somewhere else I can find instructions... or if you have your own photos/directions... please let me know!

I said this once but I will put it out there again
by the time you get into water that is so deep you are sucking water into the
stock breathers the least of your worries are the axles getting water into them

first thing that will happen is the electrical components will get water in them
then the engine will die
then the Jeep will fill with water ,about 1/2 up the doors
this will in turn ruin the "computers" along with the window regulators and a number of
other electrical components that are not made to get wet
so yeah you will save your diff's but the Jeep will still be a total loss
water over the bumper = stay out
this is easier than extending your breathers

@Tony... no photos on the 1st and 2nd links. :( The directions seem pretty much the same from all forums, so that's good at least.

Anyone know if the location of the breather tubes vary much between the KJ and KK?

@J-Thompson - a little bit of insurance never hurts, right? ;)

Good luck getting to the transmission breather if you have a 45RFE, and yes, there is one.

I would say near impossible without dropping the trans, but I haven't tried. I don't know if it can be gotten to from the top or bottom :( I wonder if dropping the center crossmember, undoing the rear ball joint and dropping the rear driveshaft would allow you to drop/tilt everything enough to get to it.
