After-market Upper Control Arm

I am looking for advise on a good Upper Control Arm replacement. I checkled out Jeepin by Al's control arm. Any other good one's to consider? I know the OEMs rub the spring when lifted. The rubber boot over the ball joint of my OEM upper control arm on the driver side has separated. I found a replacement at an auto parts store for $79.99 USD. I do plan to lift with the Frankinlift or Skyjacker later this year. Also, does anyone know if I can install the modified control arm before I perform the lift?

JBA UCA's are good (from what I hear). Rocky Road Outfitters has a set too for about $100 cheaper.

They both use the same (similar) design, and use the same ball joints. But RRO has "servicable" bushings....which are only servicable if you remove the control arm from the body:
My advice is that if you go with the RRO set, you grease them before you install them, because the grease fitting the bushings is impossible to get to.

Bottom Line: JBA or RRO. About $100 difference. Practically same product. Definitely give you room for a lift and keep the UCA's off the tire and spring

No, you can't install the modified A-arms without a lift. You can buy the OME for now, and save for a set of JBA's or RRO's as mentioned. After you lift it, then you should have the aftermarket a arms to get the alignment specs more true. I just bought a set of the RRO's Insane Arms, not installed yet though.

Basically, lift...then A-arms.

Thanks, I wasn't sure. If you don't mind, what factors went into choosing the RROs over the other A arms on the market?

There has been issues with installing and alignments with the RRO arms,not worth the hassle with there crappy service and product to save $100.

You're not the first to state that. I've only heard good things about the JBA 4.5 a-arms though. How do you feel about JBA a-arms?

Better service!
Not to mention a better company to deal with.

I rocked the GENII JBA's and wheeled the s!#t out of my KJ without issue for 4 years before upgrading to a SFA.

If you go over to LOST and search RRO I am sure there will be tons of things to read, not much of it good. One member got the RRO arms had problems with them and then more problems when he tried to get the returned.

I just installed my new RRO Insane arms today....I will let you know how they turned out. JBA's A-arms are the most popular among the crowd, but I like to give the underdawg the opportunity to prove himself worthy.

please tell, how did u grease the UCA's once installed? I cannot get a fitting on the zerk where the UCA's mount to the body.

A 90 degree grease gun fitting for tight hard to reach places. At full droop, the zerks are easier to get at too.

damn...mine sure as hell arent easy to get to. the front fitting is nearly impossible. even at full droop.

Derick, thanks for NOT jumping on the bash RRO wagon.

I've got their Insane UCA on my KJ. Have for a while now. Lincon sells a "tight spot" fitting for the end of a grease gun. I lube mine regularly or else the urethane bushings squeek like crazy. I've been really happy with the performance of the RRO arms. Price is what pushed my decision towards the RRO arms. Service has been fine. I've only called once with a question and was treated well.

I never was one to completely follow the crowd...I would go with the crowd, just only in my own direction.

My arms are working out well, I just have 200miles on them so far...so good. I must admit I was worried when I seen the huge positive camber when she came off the lift, but after alignment all is good in that area.
