Hey I am working on my front hitch I have all of the plastic parts off my liberty. I have to drill to two holes to make the TJ hitch fit correctly. I had to remove the two tow hooks. My question is where are the air bag sensors? Are they behind the two crumpling zones? Should I disconnect the battery to be safe? What else should I know?

The airbag sensors are in the middle of the Jeep, they're inertia sensors, not crumple sensors.

The TJ front hitch is not supposed to go on your Jeep. That's why it's a TJ front hitch.

And why are you running wheel spacers on a stock Jeep? ThunderbirdJunkie is going to assume you had to do a lot of cutting to alleviate the rubbing it caused.

Air bag sensors are located on the two vertical frame members on either side of the radiator in the engine compartment. You can disconnect the negative cable but I'll say truthfully when I drilled the holes for my Hellas and when I mounted my front hitch (one of the rare KJ-specific models) I never bothered disconnecting the battery.

Well the hitch fits fine I talked to a tech guy at Curt and he told me that the TJ hitch would fit. I just have to remove my tow hooks and drill a few new holes. I just wanted to make sure I would not mess anything up removing the crumple zones. Thanks for the information I have not worked on Jeep ( or American cars before).

Curt is setting themselves up for a lot of liability by recommending a hitch that isn't for the KJ to be used on a KJ...
