I just wanted to say that in the state I live in, wheeling on private property is not a violation of state law, unless the land is properly "POSTED".

Common sense dictates getting permission from the land owner if he can be found/identified if possible.

I have been wheeling in the past many times with no issues on private property, getting stuck and almost stuck many times along the way.

Heres the issue. maybe you are allowed to go on the property. but if your wheeling your tearing things up. Weather there is a sign or not the land owner can still come after you for destruction of property and vandalism. Try pulling this crap in a state where they have Castle laws, when i lived in montanna people were shot at all the time just for touching private property. Ive seen shotguns pulled for just going down a driveway.

again please lock this ridiculous thread too

I gotta agree, I attempted paintballing on private property when I was younger, well it ended when a cop came at me with a gun pulled..
Its amazing how quickly you drop to the ground when you turn around to see someone pointing a gun at you. Luckely we did not get in any real trouble since the paintballs are actually fish oil and bio-degradeable and my friends were going to run and let me take the blame, luckely to changed there minds and came back..

trust me, you were lucky it was a cop and not the land owner. Cops at least have much better trigger control then an angry land owner

Honestly with this "i like wheeling on private property as long as i dont get caught" mentality I have been seeing makes me sick. Its just like the high school ricers thinking they are so cool and can do whatever they want. Grow up and be respectful of other people stuff. Ya there might not be a sign posted but im sure your parents front lawn dosnt have a sign on it saying saying stay off, yet they would be rather mad if i brought my jeep and tore up their front lawn. Would you rather go out once in the middle of the night hoping the land owner dosnt find you and get mad and never come back, or would you rather have a good relationship with the land owner and he keeps inviting you back. Property is property, learn to have respect for others.

Oh yeah, but technically its the cities recreation property the only woods we had in the town and this was before any of my friends had a lisence we were probably 13-14?
Funny thing is a bunch of kids from school alway played there, it took them a longgg time to convince me to play with them there and of course first time i do about 20 minutes in...
Oh and walking out to the cop car we saw a few of the stoner kids from school come out of the woods, completely high...

There are states in the US that allow trespassers to be shot. You'd better get permission to be on anyones property no matter what excuse you think you have.

Although you might think it far removed, it's this wheeling on (any) land - without permission that ends up creating land closures. We have less and less legal ground to wheel on because of everyday idiots who think they can off-road somewhere just because it doesn't have a sign.

Just an FYI, not just shot, killed in any manner. Using the word "shot" implies ThunderbirdJunkie cannot forcefully place a knife in some guy's aorta if he comes into his abode uninvited.

You actually go to jail if you don't kill 'em if they're breaking in.

Head shotz all day baby.

In IL, you wont go to jail, wonderful castle law here, but if they are not dead they will sue you're ass for pain and suffering, the cost of the er visit, and anything else their lawyer can come up with... Just don't "wound" them in the back and if they leave the house, drag their sorry butts back in.

I used to own one 180 acre farm that had road access on both sides, people would park on the back side, hunt, run 4 wheelers all over and tear everything up. Same ones all the time. A few close up shot gun blasts took care of them one night!

I now own land in 3 different parts of the county and 4 wheelers and 4WDs drive past Stay Out signs and No Trespassing signs all of the time. I have caught a few but living 250 miles away its hard. I even had a log chain cut with a torch to give them access. I'll catch the rest someday. What upsets me is I don't even 4 wheel there!

I hate some of these threads that almost brag about being on private property and getting hung up etc. Wait until you own some nice land and then find everything tore up. Grow the H up and wheel only where you are allowed to!

Maybe that's whats it was, can't recall. But my point is its better to kill trespassers than wound them in the case of a break in.

dont worry budke your mom and dad will protect you in the event of a break in

I'm surprised at all you guys who believe that wheeling on private property is such a cardinal sin. What happened did you guys lose your balls?

Now I will say it's wrong to wheel in people’s front yards that’s just mean. I would never do that. And I don't think its right to wheel on property that is posted or a planted field.

But as for stuff that is not posted (that I go through) unplanted fields, empty blocks of land, I think that’s free game. If you’re unhappy with people wheeling put up a posted sign.

And if you ask somebody nicely whose really gona let you wheel on there property? I dono maybe you'll get lucky.

In closing I would like to say that if you really think about it is it really private property or is it just a piece of land that the government "says" you own.

LOR, that is easily the stupidest thing that's ever been said.

For example, ThunderbirdJunkie's dad owns a farm.
Does this mean you should be able to tearass around his field and ignore the fact that it's HIS property just because you have a stick up your ass and can't go to a freaking proper off road park or other off road vehicle area? ARE YOU THAT LAZY AND CHEAP?
No. It means that ThunderbirdJunkie's dad will be out there with a John Deere bucket tractor and push your ass into the creek if he sees you acting a fool without permission to do so.

IT IS THE EXACT SAME THING AS DRIVING ON SOMEBODY'S FRONT LAWN ARE YOU THAT FREAKING STUPID?

How is it not the same?
Scared of what? Nobody said anything for you to be scared of. Assuming you follow the VERY BASIC LAWS OF MAN and NOT TRESPASS or go where it is NOT specifically stated that you are ALLOWED to go.

Is it that hard to respect another person's property?
Maybe ThunderbirdJunkie should smack your Jeep with a 10 lb sledge. After all, the only thing you have is a piece of paper from the gov't saying it's yours.
