fyi, just completed my install. i had fuse taps that I used...they have a slit that one leg of the fuse fits through, then you plug the fuse back in with the tap. it lets you slide a connector onto it.

anyways, something to help out with the install...get some 4-wire trailer wire. it is already attached together, so you don't have to buy/wrap 4 individual wires. i used a screw connector for the ground wire, and just used the existing ground point inside the driver's kick-panel. the B+ and Switched IGN wires I tapped from the fuse panel, and then ran my PCI wire to the back of the OBD-II port.

overall pretty easy install once i fished the wires through and figured out where to mount everything.

if you have a test-meter, it makes it much easier to find constant and switched fuses in the panel. only advice i have is to install the fuse tap on the opposite leg of the source, so that way your tap is fused too.

also for an update, if anyone wants to add this to the first post as an FYI...for OTIS, it appears 04760145BH is the cutoff for the '03/'04 PN's, so if you have an '04, you need 04760145BI or higher for it to show the TEMP (I have not confirmed that 04760145BI will actually work, but can confirm that 04760145BH does not.)

Hey guys.... So today was a big day. I got the EVIC installed and it loos awesome. I have a few problems.

#1 The passanger side clip won't stay in and i think it's because of the aftermarket sunroof getting in the way but that's minor.

#2 the temp won't work. I do have a temp sensor in my grill and i know it works and checked all 4 wires.

Any suggestions???

Try a reset of the console. With everything off, push and hold both the c/t and reset buttons, then turn the key to start (you don't need to start the engine). The evic software version will come up and you can let go of the buttons. It will most likely say "passed self test". If the temp isn't working after that I would check to see if the sensor is tightly connected to the plug. It takes a lot of force to make it "click" into that connector

So i know that this is going to sound stupid but i did what you said and nothing happened. It didn't show any software version and just went right into the compas and "--" for the temp.

What year is your KJ, and what year did the EVIC come from? Its a known problem that if you have an 02-04 you need one from earlier than 04, if you have an 05-07 then you need one from those years only. They changed some stuff that won't allow reading the temp if you have the wrong year EVIC.

I have an 04 liberty and was told by LQK (the ebay seller) that the EVIC came from a 2000 jeep cherokee.

Good Days

A console EVIC of a KJ year 2002, it is possible to install in a KJ year 2006 without problems and read all the information (Temperature).

Thank you...

'04,'05,'06 not sure on the '07 and up. That being said you will need the evic from a Libby from those three years. One from the Libby will also show the proper door open messages.

part # 56010520AD or 56010527AD from the '05-'06

or

part # 56010437AA or 56010438AB from the '04

I currently have a 56010438AC in my '06. This one has Homelink and TPMS.

Funny thing is that this one also shows the Temp and MPG.

so what is the diff between the Avg MPG and the Instant MPG displays?

Just installed the 56010438AC, it has Homelink, TPMS and MPG. Is this one of those rare birds?

But still I am with the doubt.
In the forum in Spanish they say to me that it serves an EVIC of the KJ 2002, that alone change the BUS of the Grand Cherokee.
I need to confirm this.

The only (unique) EVIC that I find in my country Chile is that of a Liberty of the year 2002.

The better(best) thing that I am going to do is to search for the codes.

I had a 56042754AJ from a Grand Cherokee. Everything was functional except for the temp display. This one is from 2004 with no homelink or tpms.

Hey guys... Noob here - i got an EVIC from the scrap yard today. It came out of a grand Cheroke but I am not sure of the year.

From what I can tell, the model number is listed as:

56042271AB (W/ HMLK)
56042273AC (W/O HMLK)

According to this: http://www.wjjeeps.com/evic.htm is it a 1999-2000 model.

Q: Will this work happly in my 02 Jeep Liberty?

Hey Guys,

I am looking for some re-assurance that the plactic retainer in my 02 Liberty Sport will accept the EVIC that I bought today. The plastic bracket (well, the part I can see at least anyway) looks a little different to the one that I got with the EVIC. I dont want to cut away at the liner only to find that it wont fit the bracket :s....

The brackets are different between the Libby and GC. The GC is deeper towards the front.

Look up in the headliner opening with a mirror. If the pans look similar you have the right one installed already.

Wait a minute, you can swap out the temperature sensor from another year?
I don't think that will work. I think the difference between model years is in the BCM and the method it uses to report temperature plus I would think that you could affect the operation of the vehicle swapping sensors of different years.

But feel free to be our guinea pig ;)

I'll give it a try next weekend. Might have to take a look and see if there is a part number on the censor...
