windshield help

you know how after a while your windshield gets all these nice little impressions in it especially from highway milage and then when theres enough of them your windshield is impossible to see through when the sun reflects into it...any ideas how to fix this?

If you're talking about window pitting, nothing. The only solution is to change out the windshield. It's a big problem down here in the Southwest. I have 18,000 miles on my 11 month old '08 JK and the window is so pitted I'm hoping for a rock strike so I can have the insurance Company pay for a new one....

Mines the same way....certain light conditions I am blind by glare from the pit marks..should be a safety issue one would think. It also has a couple crack chips, so the cold weather may do it in and I can get a new one.

You could try and polish the pits out with a buffer and the right combo of polishes, but I don't know. Maybe. Toothpaste may work.

Probably be easier to throw a rock at it and get it replaced... Given your insurance covers it.

hammers are harder to explain to insurance. lol

You can get a glass polishing kit from Eastwood, i heard it works really good on wiper burn and light road rash. I have the same on my windshield, but i also have a glass chip on the drivers side and a small knick on the passenger side. I have a no deductible full glass coverage, so if it cracks then i call it in and get a new one.

Unless you're suppose to be garaged.

I've had a couple of stone chips filled with epoxy at a local glass shop for no charge (covered by my insurance). It's supposed to prevent spreading of cracks across the windshield.

I don't know about general wear & tear of your windshield glass. I doubt you can polish it out.

They don't care, they never see the windshield.

Only your glass guy will know for sure...

A KJ windshield is only like $215 installed. If it's that bad, just pay it out or get a decent comp policy on your insurance.

My windshield is jacked - I have like 5 big chips in it and it's cracked almost all the way across from the driver to passenger side. I need to get that thing replaced soon!

Mine has been replaced before. And mine even has the top weather strip!!! (I thought that was a pre 05 thing?)

Some have it, some don't.

There's a metal/brass polish here in the uk called "Braso", i've used it on my 2007 Ford to polish out some scrates on the windscreen opps sorry windshield, it takes Lots and lots of time and a little polish with a light touch. Another way to build up those arms.
(try in a small area out of line of sight first), but it worked for me.
