I traded my lifted 2000 XJ for my new 2006 KJ.
Its not anything special, just 3.7 with 60k 4x4 of course, power everything ABS, trailer package and has a cherry bomb muffler icon996.gif
It does need some work (which was expected for being such a good deal)
I need a new regulator for a window, a few dents popped out, rear bumper step pads, and it needed new tires.

I do not actually have boarded up windows! just redoing the house and am moving windows to fit new kitchen cabinets up.

First thing was remove the tacky fog lights the previous owner was nice enough to drill a bunch of holes in the bumper for, and give the interior a good scrubbing!

I also found a nice set of rims and tires off an XJ with nice 235/75r16 tires for only $200, what a steal!!!

Upcoming, first i think i need a speed sensor replaced (have traction control ABS and ESP lights all on) then fabbing up crossbars for a black widow roof rack, Hella 500s on the bumper and roof rack, window tinting! complete audio setup and possible lift and bull bar if i can afford them!

It was actually a direct trade for this:

My 2000 XJ classic, 126K 4.0 with a 3.5" RE lift, surco rack with hellas, in-dash 7" touch screen DVD, trail jammer performance package and a couple other goodies (i had it listed for sale for $7000 and i know that was overpriced for what they actually go for)

You can also see my sisters 03 KJ next to my jeep, i always drives her and like i liked enough to get my own since my XJ wasn't very friendly to my daily highway driving to college!

Welcome to the forum. There's a lot of good info here.

Nice XJ you traded. Your KJ is nice too. You will like the KJ also. They are both good jeeps.

That window regulator set me back $320 bucks (+ labor). Might try searching salvage yards...

One guy just posted about the repair kit in the products review section, he sure liked it! Nice thing about the repair kit is you fix it once and your done. You put another regulator in there and it might last a year, it might last five, who knows.

For those who are looking into roof cross bars, here is what i did for mine:
I ordered 4 1 3/8" Clamp On Tees from from growerssupply.com
part number 109597 and are $5.59 a piece plus $8 to ship so it totaled around $31.
https://www.growerssupply.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10551&storeId=10001&mfPartNumber=105957&langId=-1&division=GrowersSupply
They look like this:

They even gave me a free pair of gloves!

They are a little big for the factory rails, but i put a tiny bit of foam pipe insulation to make it snug and prevent metal on metal contact.

Then home depot 10'6" fence top post 1 3/8" for 8.49
(I got the 10'6" pipe to fit inside the KJ with the rear glass closed!!)

Then cut them down to size depending on where you are mounting them my front was about 41" and the back about 39.5"
Now comes the bending its up to you if you want to do this, i heated it up and bent it just barely to be safe.

I then test fitted and primed and painted them with some extra black paint i have, here in the final outcome!

Once the paint is dry i will get a better picture of them permanently mounted!
There is about 1/2" of clearance at the closest spot

Both the Grand Waggy's and XJ's are awesome jeeps. Once you experience them you will understand.

Here are some pictures of the rails mounted, the front sits a little close to the roof, but the rear is good. I ordered the actual rack yesterday so in a few days i should be getting that.

I had a knockout girlfriend with a grand wag. I gave her a lot of crap about driving a wobbly bus until she folded the seats down.....
