Encounters of the p0700 and/or p0740 variety?

For a little while now, my '05 sport has once in a while (every few days or sometimes more often) has shifted rough in low gear range. Usually accelerating quickly from stop and then letting off at low speeds (under 25mph). Usually just a *clunk* sound. Hasn't been too bad so I wasn't too worried.

This past weekend I was driving on the freeway with a light trailer in heavy traffic having to drive defensively and all of a sudden I look down to see the MIL light on. No more flashing after I noticed the light on, so I drove another 150 miles home and checked it with our scanner. Error codes p0700 and p0740. I deleted the codes and plan on running around further to see if anything else pops up. Now, I'm a poor college student and would like to get out of this without spending much money, does anyone know what these codes suggest and whether I should take it into a mechanic right away?

Thanks,
jwim

Thanks for the input,
Could you describe what this means in more detail? I have my dads scanner to pull the codes and I'm sure I could tinker with it more to get more technical data (me thinks), so I'd hesitate to go to the dealer just to diagnose with a scanner - unless theirs have more capabilities. What I may do is give them a call to see if they can offer any advice if I give them the results of my scan.

TCC lockup (uses a clutch, triggered by a solenoid) physically links the pump and turbine at 1:1 ratio, effectively changing the converter into a purely mechanical coupling. The result is no slippage, and virtually no power loss.

You "can" run without TCC lockup, at the expense of gas mileage, and transmission wear. Though, I ran a TH180 transmission without it for 2 years, no problems except higher RPMS at cruise speeds = lower gas mileage.

Does the 42RLE suffer from the Chrysler TCC Solenoid syndrome?? I have heard about that on a few vehicles, mainly minivans.

The 42RLE is a minivan trans(revised A604 trans).

The DRBIII(or StarScan) is way more advance then any scanner you'd buy at your local advance auto parts store.Even the $6000+ SnapOn scanners(or OTC) can not do 1/2 what a OEM specific scanner can do.
