As for those offering to do the job - considering he lives in NY and most of you are in the midwest - Manny, Moe & Jack would be cheaper. ;)

Somewhere between being sane and insane!
Even a Dealership wouldn't charge $1300 for that!

Things that need to be done at 30K miles:
Oil Change [obviously]
Transmission Fluid Change
Front diff Fluid
Rear Diff Fluid
Transfer Case Fluid
New Spark Plugs
New Air Filter [as required]
Inspect the brakes [replace as required]
Flush Brake Fluid [if you want or as required]

That's pretty much it.

The coolant [HOAT = Zerex G-05 or Mopar Branded Coolant Only] is good for 5 years or 60,000 miles]
The battery is sealed and non serviceable as everyone else stated. Unless you have a lot of crud built up on the terminals... then TJ's comment is valid.
The serpentine belt should be good for 60k miles
There should be nothing wrong with the fuel system at 30K miles...

Hopefully you didn't have them service your vehicle...
You should have your fuel system cleaned at least once a year, more so with a 3.7 since they are known for carbon build up.Then of course you should replace the plugs after such cleaning since it can(and most times does) foul the plugs.

Would Seafoam suffice?

Yes but a throttle body cleaning is also part of a 3 part professional cleaning.Which you can still do with seafoam by putting some in a spray bottle to use to clean the throttle body while the engine is running.

Oh and do not use seafoam more then once a year,as with any type of fuel injector cleaner type stuff.Repeated use can and will destroy the cats.

Wow, lots of feedback on this topic. I really appreicate everyone's input, some who have had bad experiences with 3rd party shops like PEPBOYS, sorry to hear about your story. I plan on going by the service manual provided by Jeep and changing what is nessecary.

As for my KJ, I haven't hit 30k miles just yet, but I was shopping around for pricing and thought you guys can give your input, which you all did :). A lot of people caught the mistakes of the oils PEPBOYS was planning to use. Another of which I just saw, they were planning to use 5w30 instead of the 5w20 for my KJ.

So the info I gathered for a 30k tune up with the oil type,
1) Oil Change (5w20)
2) Transmission Fluid Change (ATF+4)
3) Front diff Fluid (75W90)
4) Rear Diff Fluid (75W90)
5) Transfer Case Fluid (ATF+4)
6) New Spark Plugs
7) New Air Filter [as required]
8) Inspect the brakes [replace as required]
9) Flush Brake Fluid [if you want or as required] (DOT 3 or DOT 4)
10) Clean fuel system

What are your thoughts on pricing? self and through a mechanic?

side questions what is the difference, if any, between clean fuel system and throttle body cleaning? and what plugs need to be replace after cleaning, spark?

Dave thank you for the offer I really appreicate you extending a helping hand to a "newbie". So far I have performed #1 and #7 on the list above. If there are online videos of steps I would like to see those so I can try myself. The text based instructions I feel are hard to follow as opposed to visually seeing someone perform the action via a video clip.

Maybe I'll go to another shop and see how much they charge and services they will perform for a 30k tune and post the pricing online. Then I'll get you all riled up again. hehe..

Thanks again all! :D

Wow, I sure am glad I do all my maintenance. No one else mentioned this but, they have Pennzoil listed as the oil. I would stay away from that. I would rather use Valvoline or Mobil, much better products. You are better off going to your dealer, probably a better price, and they will (most likely) use the right fluids.

While on the subject of fluids....

Why did they go to 5w20 on the newer 3.7's and the older ones were 5w30??

Not to mention consolidation, considering the HEMI requires 5W20 for the MDS to work. So......

Why buy 2 weights of oil to fill from the factory, when you can just buy one and save money?
