That same thing was discussed over on L.O.S.T. and the owner ended up getting banned. His price is just the starting price to sucker you in the door and then **** you for twice as much and still end up with a half-a$$ed SFA KJ.The KJ in the pic had to be redone since that guy/company screwed the pooch big time the 1st go around at trying to be a budget SFA(which there is no such thing as). That price does not include wheels/tires,gears,lockers,or a decent rear job(he uses spacer lift in the rear),basically you are paying all that money for a used HP30(used gears, not freshened up at all),used steering box(wrong one for this purpose, weak and needs a adapter),and weak front control arms that do not have any flex in them.Basically you are getting screwed and the guy(owner of that shop) is a idiot, stay away.

The concept is good.

It would be great if someone were to make a pre-fabbed kit that could be ordered and installed in a KJ. Perhaps some stock or parts brought in from other Jeep models to keep the production cost down, and the options for aftermarket upgrades open once you've got it installed.

Right, and at the end of the day, just how many people really need an SFA set up for their KJ?
Other than pose value, most people have it mostly for show. Since the Liberty has been introduced I have yet to see ONE here in the most populated area of B.C.!
Looks cool, great!
Say good bye to fuel economy and handling.
Ever wonder why Chrysler didn't do it from the factory? It's not cost, IFS cost's alot more to develop than SFA!
It's done for practicality. It is better for all round driving like most KJ's do. If your lucky 10% really use their 4X4 for real off road use.

Actually 3 currently built SFA KJ's ride better then the IFS versions, long arms give a amazing ride quality. They also beat them up pretty good offroad and are not in any way show queens. As far as mpg's I can't say what they are getting but when I get my SFA done I am expecting about a 30%+ increase in mpg's due to being able to finally gear correctly for the tires and weight of my KJ,and I can still pull 20-21mpg's on the highway. As of right now(and known) there is 9 SFA KJ's,one was a show rig built by Detroit Lockers, there was one show SFA KJ built in Australia. The rest are beaten offroad pretty good.

Oh and it actually cost's more to design a SFA unibody vehicle then making the same unibody vehicle IFS.

i don't think there is that many sfa liberties and the reason is cost. I would love to have a sfa on my kj and so would many others. Besides improving offroad performance it would be unique and one of a kind. I think that is the real reason people sfa their kjs. Anyone can mod a tj or a cherokee but the kj would be unique. i am not a showy person but I do mod my KJ to use off-road with the products that are available.

I agree.I have taken my KJ to the max with IFS and now it's time to upgrade. For what I want it would not be cost effective,or cheaper,to build a TJ to my exact wanting that my KJ is getting since my KJ is already paid off.

cape fear 4x4 (i think is the name) is doing SFA's for a base price of 6,000. and the guy pictured in the ebay add, had his rebuilt by them and is 100% satisfied. check the SFA section of LOST for more info.
