So with the temps running in the low 40's on Sunday I went ahead and took care of changing my oil, air filter, and greasing some areas up. I also thought how it would be a great time to rotate my tires (purchased back in November). No problem, until I checked the air pressure on them and couldn't believe I failed to check it earlier. 75,77,78,72 psi measured. No wonder it was bumpy as hell since I got the tires (I just thought it was because I had actual tread lol).

So I put the pressure down to 38 (exactly like I ran before). After doing so I have some major steering wheel wobble driving on the highway. What do I do? Take it to the shop or do you think the wobble will eventually work its way out as the tires wear and I rotate again on the next oil change?

P.S.
I am running 245/75/16 BFG's TA/KO on Cragar Soft 8's

sounds like a broken steel belt on one of your front tires or one wheel was left loose. hopefully a broken belt.

Phil.....HOLY CRAP.........the tire place put 78 pounds of air in them???

How many miles are on them now?

They never wobbled before??

It sounds like you possibly got some wierd tire wear. You checked to see that the balance weights are still on the rims, right. Maybe they are now way out of balance (or one of them is) ........so you should take it back to the tire place and talk to the manager.

I can't think of anything elce at the moment. Seems like you gotta check everything someone elce does to your jeep.

Let us know what happens.

Well the weights are all there still and I remember since I was in the shop and hanging out with the guy putting them on and balancing them after. However!! I never would have thought they would put full PSI in the tire, not one second of thought. I drove about 4K total on them (maybe less since it was the holiday and less travel to/from work). I am sure to go by their shop on Tuesday and let them take a look at it all.

Thats insane! Why would they ever put that much pressure in them! I would say they are cupped(worn in the middle) something awful which isnt helping the situation.

I would go back to the tire place and tell them what happened and whats going on now.

Usually after I get tires they never put enough air in them. Always under 30 psi.
