04 Tail Light Lenses Melted

Both of my 04 Liberty tail light assemblies have an inner clear lens that has come loose and melted to the bulbs. Naturally the bulbs shatter. It looks like a manufacturing defect but I haven't seen any other mention of the problem. I have searched for recalls and TSBs with no luck. New lens assys are pretty pricey but I'm getting tired of being told that I have no brake lights. Bulbs ain't cheap anymore. Anybody else have this issue?

New Lenses $60 for a pair on ebay, not the stock ones, but smoke, euro, or silver ones.

I've heard of it happening a few times, happened to me once.

I just a soldering iron to melt the inner lenses into smaller pieces and pulled them out through the bulb socket.

It happened to my sister's. If you're lucky, you can get that "clear lens" to stay in one spot but I must warn you, that's only a temporary fix. The only permanent fix without buying a new tail light is exactly what VTNomad posted... melt that piece of plastic.
