Happened to notice recently that my libertys paint job *****, took it to the local body man, and he quoted me 600$ for touch-up, sand and buff.

Does every liberty have the special orange peel paint option or is it only present on the "soccer mom" editions?

Take it off road and add some trail pinstripping. The orange peel will no longer be noticeable ;)

In all honesty, mine seems just fine. No, not a mirror finish, but I have yet to see a car in this price range that's any better. I wouldn't even consider mine orange peel, it's just not show car smooth - just a little wavy.

That $600 isn't terrible if the body man makes it look good. Several hours labor and shop materials. I usually see orange peel on the vaunted rice burners - not so much on American cars.

What the heck are you guys talking about? "Orange Peel? Are you referring to the texture of the paint finish? If so, I'm thinking y'all got ripped off. I purchased mine new in '03 and the paint was as smooth and glossy as any $50,000+ vehicle

Orange peel doesn't show up as bad in certian colors, silver being one of those.Blues, reds, and kacki colors will really show the orange peel, more so with non-metalic paints.I've seen $60,000 Cadi's and $100,000 Benz's with orange peel also.Just remember that a machine paints the vehicles, not humans.

I guess I'm confused, too. My '04 is Black, and I don't see any evidence of Orange Peel texturing. I mean, when I clean it and wax it, it looks fine. The sides of my vehicle have trail-pinstriping fo' sho', but still, places like the hood? Not a trace. Interesting. I'll have to look more closely at other Jeeps.

All the DaimlerChrysler vehicles I've seen have quite a bit of orange peel, especially with the darker colors. However, I figure it's not a Maserati, and a Jeep isn't really meant to be a show vehicle.
