Hey whats up everybody. I have some news that pissed me off. I just bought the Rock Krawler 3.5 xfactor lift kit and installed it, but when the time came to get my tires nothing would fit. Rock Krawler says the recomended tire size is 31x10.5(265/70/16) and I wasn't even able to get that size on with out it rubbing on rear part of the front fender well and I even pounded down the pinch weld. They said it would fit with little or no fender modification. There was really no trimming i could of done. I think I got jipped, cause it didn't raise it 3.5 inches at all and wouldn't let me put the recommended tire size on. I bought it from this website, tellico4x4.com. They normally don't take returns but they want me to send them a side picture of my kj and they might consider it or something like that. What do you guys think about all this?

If the lift has RK on it it is junk, ask them about the 7UP KJ lift. They also stated that the 3.5 kit worked for the CRD,it doesn't and took one very mad person to convince them.,don't listen to anything RK has to say. What rims are you using? Specs on rim?
Fitting 265/70's or 265/75's requires alot of trimming on a KJ,I run 3.75" of lift and had to do major trimming to make them fit and not really rub(I only kiss the front of the rear flares a little bit now).It also has alot to do with the wheels you are running. To lessen the rub you need to run a 7" wide rim with 4"-4.5" of BS(if not running OEM rims),anything else and your going to have major rub problems that can't be fixed. The main reason for the rear rub on the front of the rear flare is that after a lift the rear axle is moved forward, new lower adustable control arms are needed to recenter it.Put just adding adjustable lower control arms is not enough snice that also lowers the pinion angle causing driveline problems. You need a adjustable upper tri-link also to get the pinion angle back into specs.

I'm using the stock rims. I had a 1.25 adaptor on them but they were causing some rub to. I might put them back on and just do some trimming. I ended going with 255/70/16s. They are Toyo Open Country AT's. If I get my money back I'm probably just going to go back to stock and keep the tires since they're only 0.8 inches taller then stock.

Not sure if you can run the 255 70s or not, 245s 70s rub on some that havent had a lift installed

Actually, I'm not sure how much lift I got exactly. It has to be less then what was advertised.

so their "3.75" only let you go up 1 inch in tire size. That makes no since at all. Where was the rubbing? Was it only while turning? Do you think wheel spacers or different backspacing would help?

I bought and installed a Rock Krawler 3.5" 4th gen on my 04 Renegade this weekend. I read alot of post and the only people who had bad things to say about Rock Krawler where people with CRD's or f'ed up back space, 4.5 or use your stock rims!, the lift is not a flex kit, straight lift stock flex which allows you to run big tires. I run Micky Tompson MTZ's 265/75/r16 on stock rims, I relocated the pinch(which was easy and very clean looking, they touch the little nub that sticks out beside the fog light door in the front, I heated it up with a heat gun and moved it. In the back they tuck good, little touching on the very front of the rear wheel well under extreme flex I'm looking for a fix, but I'm not in any rush it barely ever/even happens. Ill post picks this week its dark now.

It was rubbing on rear of the front fenderwells, mainly while turning.

You need to hammer down the pinch weld. My 245/75-16 mtr's rubbed like crazy before i did that. Also had to modify the fog light door.

Lovely!
Sounds real safe!
Tell me about it,the hole you needed to drill was on the "L" part of the knuckle also, the upper part that has the bend that the UCA balljoint connects to.That part of the knuckle isn't that wide to begine with, like a 1"-1 1/4" thick at most, then you had to drill a 5/8" hole through it and that's where the new steering brackets where bolted to,you had to cut about 4" off each outer tie-rod end also.

i got a "3in" rough country lift for my 04 renegade and i could only go up 1.5" on the tire size... the site where i bought my lift from said that with the lift i could easily run 32" tires on it. i first had 32s put on and i had severe tire rub front and back. I had to go with 245 75 16s. and i still get tire rub on turning and moderate flex at the rear... i have stock wheels but i think it should still be better than what i got...

people keep buying their junk so they keep selling it, someday maybe people will buy lifts from companies that actually work well instead of wasting their money with Rough Country

Add 2.5" bump stops to the rear spring perch directly under the spring for your suffing problems. Get Spidertrax 1 1/4" wheel spacers or 16X7 rims with 4.5" backspacing to help with rubbing on the swaybar at full lock and make sure you pound the pinch weld over flat.
