My liberty has 38k miles on it so I was wanting to do an oil change. I was doing some searching tonight trying to find out which ****** I have. My build date was 01/03. I found several threads where people had the 42rle with that early build date. I also have the ****** controller on the passenger side. I saw someone that said if the crossmember is straight you have the 42 if it curves to the back you have the 45. Mine curves to the back. Ok I thought allright I have the 45rfe, but then I counted the ****** pan bolts. I only have 13. I counted several times to make sure I didn't miss any. Doesn't the 45 have 15 bolts? I also have the independant ****** cooler another 42 characteristic. I can't find a sticker on the ****** anywhere either, so I'm still confused. help!.gif

It seems like for while Jeep through whatever they had at the liberty. You cant tell from the extra computer on the firewall, cant tell from the number of plugs on the PCM, Im not 100% sure you can tell from the curved back cross member. We could tell from a pic of the actual ****** though.

IMHO the ****** pan bolts says it all: You have a 42RLE. The auxiliary cooling and the lack of a sticker (and a 'RFE' stamped in the housing) points in the same way.

The controllers means nothing (unless you don't have it) and the crossmember thing is kinda ambiguous...

I figured the bolts would tell all but I didn't know for sure which ****** had how many bolts. By looking at those pics I can tell that i don't have the 45rfe. So I need to get the '04 transmission filter kit
