I know you get what you pay for but times are tight. I want to know from someone who has it installed it, an unbiased review of it as it may be my m choice.

well my brother has an 05 jeep liberty limited and he has that OTT lift and man has he had problems. I am thinking about Rustys because i hear nothing but good things about the Rustys, my advice would be to go with the Rustys. You can get a really good deal from the For Sale section on here or ebay..thats where my brother got his..he shouldnt have left postive feedback  haha

Dont want to spend the extra but willing to kill your struts etc and then have to replace them ????After over 3 years of lurking on here and being on LOST every day you SAVE NOTHING by going cheap, no matter how much you off road or dont off road. But go ahead and then come back in 6 months complaining about the poor ride/ blown struts etc Promise I wont say I told you so

Tom said that!!

well for one with an OTT you are going up 2.5 inches or so, with a clevis you are only doing it about 1/2 inch to maybe 3/4 inch big difference. Also just in the way they are designed it puts extra stress on the whole front suspension. Little lesson here...knew a younger guy who wanted the look so bought an OTT, ARB bumper etc, 5,000 miles struts blown, 1 upper ball joint gave way pulling into his driveway, his Dad made him take everything off and sell the bumper etc. So he had to buy a new stock bumper, both front flairs, both upper control arms etc etc.Oh it was a renegade also so needed to paint some items ...more money.....BUT I GOT A GREAT DEAL ON AN ARB AND ALL HIS JUNK PARTS LOL So go ahead and do the cheap and I will watch to see what you have to sell! Not being a smart A$$ just stating facts

Tony,
The CRD Frankenlift or the slightly shorter OME lift don't give the extreme CV angles you saw in the pics. One reason, our engine/frontend runs a little lower in the body. The second, the lift isn't 2.5 inches plus like the gas rigs. A lift that high is really a pain to put in our rig with the much heavier springs and forcing it was causing some to damage their CV boots, so they backed off on the height to about 2 inches.

What exactly is the OME lift? Are the spacers necessary in the Frankenlift?

OK we know dont go cheep
well now I am here to say avoid rustys coils if you plan to do any thing but street driving
I do not yet have pics but I should by Sunday
the ONLY other lifted 4wd KJ in my part of town got a rustys full coil lift about a year or so ago w/BFG MT's 30X9.5 (OD ~29.5")
I got the OME lift about 6 months ago w/MTR's 245/75 (OD~ 30.5")
he has wheeled maybe 4 or 5 times with out me on his lift and noting extreme

Now if you look at the numbers
rustys coil lift = 2"
OME lift = 1.75"
rustys is taller by 1/4" not much but some
MTR's will give about .5" of lift over the BFG
so I should be at best 1/4" taller
well I am 1" or more taller due to spring sag on the rustys coils

I would recomend going with OME only at this time when it comes to coils
and for the record I am running med. duty coils and truly I am running nothing because I dont own the KJ my wife does

Ok,so we're clear on the fact that OTT blows struts. Can anybody tel me why??

With an OTT lift, the problems start when the suspension gets fully compressed. This can happen off road, on road (over huge bumps) - doesn't matter. What happens is the strut gets compressed harder and farther than it was designed to be, causing damage over time.

The answer to the problem is to install bumpstops to limit suspension compression. Read this:

Buy your bumpstops here:

Buy your OTT lift and do this mod. You'll be all set if you do mainly on-road driving. Yes, the angle of the A-arms will cause the ball joint boots to come close to the spring. They may or may not rub. You're going to have this problem with any lift you put in any KJ, unless you buy these:

Good luck.

I have had the rusty's spacer lift for over 20,000 miles of road driving and wheeling. No problems yet. But that is just me.

OTT is a part that installs on top of the strut, bad news and a waste of money, I have them laying in my garage due to people taking them off after all the damage they do. I use them for door stops about the only thing I can find a use for them after they ruined the upper A arms/ struts/ fenders etc on another guys KJ
