hey all? i have 05 libby with the 2.4l 6 speed. it has about 52,000 miles on it. im starting to notice that it stumbles a bit when i start it, and also when accelerating. does anyone have any suggestions as to what this problem may be? a tune up maybe? i bought it used with 30,000 miles. since then all i've done was change the oil every 3 to 5 thousand miles.

thanks,

I'm not sure about the 2.4, but they're probably the same as far as the tune up schedule goes. You're "supposed" to do a tune-up every 30,000 miles, so if you bought it with 30,000 then it probably hasn't been done. I would definately start there. Check the air filter and all the other usual stuff too though.

Somewhere between being sane and insane!
Replace air filter, spark plugs, plug wires(the 2.4 has them),and it would be a good idea to change the fuel filter. You can also run some SeaFoam in the gas tank to help clean the fuel system out.

Yep, dump seafoam right in the tank. One whole can with your next fill up of gas, or about 1 fluid ounce per gallon. You can also put 1/2 can in your engine oil (seriously!) a couple hundred miles before your next oil change. It works!

You do not need to buy the parts from Mopar. Just make sure that you get some quality plugs and wires and not some cheap-o's.

sweet! i appreciate you guys help. so do you think autozone parts will cut it? i was also wondering if anyone is familiar with the 2.4 set up. the 3rd plug back appears to be under the throttle body. can i get away with just removing the hose thats between the throttle body and the air box, or does the throttle body have to be removed?

thanks again,

Sorry got to disagree with the spark plug post. NGK plugs are really good plugs compared to autolights, Just look at the price difference an auto light is under 2 bucks were I live. Thats all personal preference thoe. I am not to fond of champions!!!

I too am concerned about removing the Throttle Body to get to the plugs, is it just removing 4 bolts and sliding it out of the way .
Don't want to break anything.

it was a lot easier than i thought. it took me about 20 minutes to a half hour. i'm actually happy that i had to take the throttle body off because when i did i noticed the butterfly was full of carbon so i got to clean it up good. all you have to do is remove the air box. the air box is held on by 2 screws, one by the timing belt cover and the other on the side. then take off the three screws holding the throttle body. once it comes loose just move it out of your way and proceed to change the plugs and wires. piece of cake. the only problem i had was reaching the number 3 and 4 plugs. i'm 5'6 so i had to stretch a bit. good thing it's not lifted. i ended up buying my wires from jeep (mopar) and going with bosch platinum plugs. no one had wires in stock, and no one had autolites in stock. after reading on here about plugs it seems that bosch are probably the second most used plug after the autolites. thanks to everyone for your help.
