I just had an appointment with the dealer to change&flush the transmission.

Is this a fair price?? I heard my friend got his Accord changed for $90.

Why it cost me that much???

Don't do it!! Changing the ****** fluid is not too hard, just drop the pan, change the filter, reseal and refill. No flush necessary.

Thank you very much. But I've heard that if DIY, I can only get 30% of the old fluid out of the transmission. Is that true?

If you just drop the pan only 5 qts out of the 17 qts (?) of ATF+4 fluid. How many miles does you KJ have?

Thanks a lot, jeepkj02.

I had 85000km on my 03 KJ.

You mean all the transmission fluid will come out completely once the drain plug is turned off ??

You can't buy the filter & 5 qts of ATF+4 for $80. Mr. Transmission is cutting corners!

It's kind of high, but I don't think you got screwed. Even to do it yourself, you will spend about $100 on fluid, filters, RTV, & clean up products. then the labor is a pain. I'd shop around next time, but I don't think that price was terribly out of line.

Thanks guys. I dont have my own garage to do the trany stuff. So I will spend $300 to have it done. I wish one day I could DIY. It should be more fun than changing the engine oil.

Yep, then about $55-60 for filters, plus whatever you pay for whatever you place between the pan & transmission... more than $80

oh, you got the filters for free! Hope you can do that next time!!!
