Mopar one? It's not that bad. Mine fits over the front bumper and has the bars following the outline of the headlights. Here is a picture of mine.

If your looking for something more rugged take a look at the ARB's. It really depends on your budget as they will cost you between $300 and $800 depending on what you want to get.

Ok, heres my question on these. And maybe this will help your decision. I really, really like the look of the westin and manik gaurds. But, they mount in the tow hook location. So, can you use these for recovery? If not, can you still install a front reciever to get a hook into the center of the bumper? Basically, upon installing this, am I totally killing my front recovery?

Got to get an ARB bumper....for the cost of that, you get front recovery and a darn near indestructable front end. When all is said and done, you will pay about the same for the ARB as you will a front hitch and a good brush guard, and they wont look nearly as cool

I have the Westin. To me, it seems like you should be able to install a hidden hitch, although don't quote me on that as I have not done much research.

For the OP, go with the extra $$$ and get the ARB.

Trust me one this one......

People should start living "Dave's 5 year rule."

Goes a little something like this.....

If you are going to have something over 5 years, go ahead and spend the money and get exactly what you want. (Bed, sheets, sunglasses, TV, Stereo, tools, suits, appliances, etc etc) Anything else, get the cheapest you can find.

As a caveat to this, one of the subrules of "Dave's 5 year rule" concerns vehicles. If you have the option to get exactly what you want, it works great, looks good, and will last.....versus doing something that may or may not work, requires a lot of work, or possible a pain in the ass.....and it will save you LESS than $1000......then go for the more expensive option.

You will NOT miss that $200 six months later when people compliment you on the ARB, you get towed out with it, bowl over trees like matchsticks, get crazy clearance angles, etc etc etc. I know I would be pissed if I walked out to look at my jeep and I have a cheap looking, not-too-tough brushguard on it when I could have done the same amount of work, spent an extra $200, and gotten the ARB.

It's science.

Here is the question though......

Does the ARB come painted? I have a freedom edition, and I would only want it on there if it matched the stock paint perfectly.

Then paint it to match:D .
It comes powder coated a dark grey(the color it is in the pic I posted),from the freedom editions I've seen it should match or be very close.Just be lucky that ARB comes painted or powdercoated at all,all other bumber choices come bare steel.

I am planning on doing the ARB but as soon as I put in a Rusty's or Frankenlift for the added lift over what my BDS gives. As for "Dave's 5 year rule" I agree that if you plan to keep it for many years you might as well drop the money rather than trying to save a couple hundred. I was fortunate to get my brush guard insanely cheap which justified my purchase at the time. But, after having it for 3 years I feel having the ARB is around the corner.

So Phil,

Can you do front recovery with the brush guard or not?

Nope. It uses the points where the tow hooks go. I don't live in areas where front recovery is needed (Detroit) and when I used to off-road we were able to recover from behind when needed. I know you can customize front tow hooks but I'm not sure what process that would take.

speleorelic, from L.O.S.T, did it but is using a SmityBilt brush guard.

About 90lbs without a winch in it.I only have had a 1/4" sag over the last 30,000 miles with my SkyJacker lift, took care of that real easy with a 3/8" cleavis lift, but I also have a WARN 9500XP(add another 80lbs) which in it.

I think you have the coolest lib ive seen yet

the arb will. It is a different design than 03'due to different light locations and I think it cost about 100 bucks more than the 02-04 one.
