I bought my 06 Liberty last June 06. I was wondering if anyone has had problems with the right front feeling tighter than the left side. When I bought it, it drove beautiful. I took it to the dealer to have the first oil change. After that it did not drive the same. The right front feels like it has a little tug to it, and now when I put my brakes on, the steering wheel jumps a little bit. I took it to the dealer, and they test drove it and said there's nothing wrong.
Has anyone else had this problem? I can tell the difference in driving it.
Any answers would be appreciated.
Thank you

Ahhh dealer. They will always say "nothing wrong". But what's wrong is themselves to begin with. And the jeep never leaves the dealer in same condition. Those people!!

It might sound funny but have you checked your lugnuts? Maybe they left them a bit loose, or over tightened them?

I will check those. They have already adjusted my steering box because after the 1st visit, I had to keep the steering wheel cocked to the left to stay straight. I just disappointed now that they tell me nothing wrong. I love my jeep liberty.

What is the deal with this? I've noticed over the years whenever I take my vehicle to a mechanic almost always something is screwed up or something else breaks soon after. I can feel my blood pressure rising right now just thinking about it. I don't know how to work on my own vehicle, but I absolutely hate letting a mechanic touch it.

I had to do the same thing, mine was actually pulling to the right so much that I could take the exit without touching the wheel. I had to keep the wheel tilted to the left to go straight. But it was alignment problem.

I wish he had a choice.

I guess I will take it back to the dealer. I asked my Dad and he said they probably didn't put it up on the rack the right way and maybe bent a tie-rod.
Oh, I also forgot to tell you that when I had the first oil change, also the guy who did it, put a dent in my hood by the jeep emblem with the palm of his hand. They did fix that........My jeep drove fine until I had the first oil change done. Just my luck I guess. I now have 17,000 miles on it.

Fix it meaning new hood? OMG that would make me so pissed off. Give it to the dealer though, seems to be a common trend with many of them.

This is why i've learned over the years to do my own work on my vehicle. I grew up around mechanics and shops (my old man was a mechanic), and i've seen some of the crap that some of them do.

There are a few good ones out there, but they are out numbered by the bad ones.

Might be time to pick up a couple of manuals and a few tools and start gettin dirty.

Try another dealer(prefferably a five star). If they blow you off then I would take it to a private garage. Tell them the problem and ask for them to take a look and give you a quote you can take to the stealership and bitch.

If they are cool like they guy I go to for stuff that is beyond my skills, then they will look at it and tell you whats up to generate good faith for the future when your warranty is up.

Under warranty I only go to five star dealers and if they f with me I call DC and raise holy hell. Don't let them lie to you.

Lastly, I would go buy a chifford or haynes manual and learn how to do most stuff yourself or find a mech you can trust.

I never let anyone else change my oil or fluids. That job they usually give to the biggest moron that works there. I have heard of so many people getting a oil change done and then the rig goes belly up with a bunch of problems. i don't know how you can break a jeep changing oil but they do!!!

The dealer where I get (most) of my stuff done do a great job with oil changes. Never broke anything. They even check my air pressure, check and fill fluids.

The service department on the other hand has a tendency of screwing up OTHER things occasionally. Take this for example: Took my Jeep in for a recall. I have absolutely no clue how they forgot to fill up the transmission?

When I bought my KJ it was slightly used 14K miles. I pulled the carfax on it and it came from some dealer up in TN, although I bought it in AL. On the carfax it listed an oil change as being done at the TN dealer. After I got it home, I crawled under it to look around. I found a 13mm socket stuck to the drain plug on the oil pan. Whatever goofball mechanic did that last oil change left his socket. It had his initials on it. smashfreakB.gif My oil plug bolt was slightly rounded on the edges, but still very much usable, so apparently this only happened once. I now use the correct 1/2" wrench on the drain plug and all is fine. Oh yeah that mechanic also installed a rather cheap oil filter from OReilly. The sides of that filter were so thin I could flex them with my hand easily as I was unscrewing that filter to replace it with a decent one.

I do my own oil changes for a reason!

FWIW, my dad was a Mopar mechanic in the early 1970's. He said they had there share of goofball mechanics then too, but for the most part the guys were a little better skilled and wanted to do the right thing for the customer regardless of what the dealership thought.
