Buy at your own peril. You have to drill the roof and use nutzerts to hold it in. Does not seem worth it to me for just an air deflector. I am still too apprehensive about doing that for the light bar! I have ridden in a friend's who had it. In fact I installed it for him. Personally...not worth it. It does do what it says it will and blow a lot of the rain off the back window, but how much rain really obstructs your view back there, anyway? Not to mention you have a wiper... $80-90 for that thing, plus drilling the roof? I wouldn't do it...but that is me

I thought about installing one, but decided against it. I didn't want the additional drag that might drop my fuel mileage for what little benefit in the rain it would provide. The wiper does an ok job. I also put Rain-X on the back glass and that seems to help too. And I definitely didn't want to be drilling holes in the roof.

I have seen some aircraft that had slots in the leading edge of the wing to redirect airflow and work as flaps at certain speeds. Not sure of the exact name of this feature, my dad would know since he's a pilot. But I have to wonder if a similar feature wouldn't work to help direct airflow over the back glass and keep it clear. Think of it as an integrated spoiler that doesn't stick up above the roof and it's completed molded into the body so that it is only visible when looking at it from the top or bottom. The air channel would only be about an inch tall and it would be almost the width of the roof. It definitely wouldn't have the drag of the existing air deflector and would be almost invisible. Maybe engineers have already tried this concept and decided it was ineffective, I don't know.

Slightly OT:

Your thinking of Slats. They generally extend from the leading edge of a wing and are tied into your Flap operation. Your control surfaces are:
Ailerons: Provide bank left and right (back of the wing)
Flaps: Change the curvature of your wing to increase lift at slow speeds (back of the wing)
Slats: Same as flaps, but on the front of the wing
Elevator: Pitch up & down, on the horizontal Stablizer at the back of the plane
Rudder: Left & Right Yaw. On the tail.

Here is the opposite opinion. I have the rear air deflector and I wanted it for a couple things.

A.) Looks: To me it looks great and brings some sporty style to the Jeep.
B.) Reduction of the elements: I found by having it I no longer have the snow drift blowing down the window after it snowed... I don't have that much rain coming down on window, and by redirecting the air its removing the nasty fogging I used to consistently get during the different temperatures.

Of course the main reason though was that it was an accessory, it looks great, and I wanted it. Lastly, I installed it myself. Yes I drilled holes in the roof and I was biting my nails before and holding my breath during. However, a template comes with it and the directions were really straight forward. Everything went smooth for me though.

Depending on how much you want it, go for it. If not, don't bother.

I was thinking about it myself, but a little apprehensive about drilling the holes.....So it wasn't too bad, huh. Now I'm thinking about it again. See what you did to me.

I called the dealer today and asked if they would install it, they trasfered the call to the body shop, he told me he would do it, but wanted to drop the headliner so he could put some silcone around the screws when he drilled through, so I was like that aint going to be cheap, he stated he would do it for $50, so I think Im going to have it done

I've wanted one on two different KJs, but I don't like the idea of drilling holes in the body.

Oh boy would that thing look good...
