I typically go to a 5 Minute Oil Change in my area and I get the synthetic oil and special filter for it. This is supposed to be good for 5000 miles.

Well, I noticed my last sticker they gave me had 3000 miles on it (before I change it again) and so I went in a little after the 3000 miles were up to get it changed again. I asked them if I had gotten the wrong oil on my last change because I thought it was good for 5000 miles.

They said that their policy is to put 3000 miles on the sticker because they don't know how I drive my vehicle!

I distinctly remember having 5000 mile stickers before and I find it curious that after I put the Magnaflow exhaust on I'm now getting 3000 mile stickers.

Anyone else experience this?

If it weren't for the hassle of getting rid of my old oil I just assume do the oil changes myself.

Hassle of getting rid of oil?! It takes 5 minutes to pour it into a windshield washer fluid or milk jug with screw on lid and put it in a box in your trunk. Anywhere that sells motor oil is obligated to accept it for recycling by law. I guarantee you pass 10 places within a 5 minute span that sell oil. Every gas station I know of keeps a couple bottles on the shelf at 5 bucks a quart for hopeless motorists. Not to mention the vast proliferation of Advance, Kragen, Autozone, Pep Boys and O'Reilly's out there.
That's just a lazy man's excuse.

It's easy for you to say, you live in the woods, you need oil for your lantern when you go out hunting bears in the caves. \:D/

Are you serious?

If you are, the tree-hugging hippy in me feels the need to slap you on the hand and say WTF.

You can get rid of it anyplace that sells oil, like someone already said...most gas stations, Auto Zone, Pep Boys, NAPA, VIP, Dealerships, 5 minute oil change places, hell...our town transfer station takes oil...for f**** sake, WALMART will accept oil, and if they don't call your state EPA office.
*I am now stepping down from my soapbox.*

-=edit=- please watch the language..thank you

Or give it to Snowgod and he will cook with it. Vegetable Oil, Canola Oil, Sunflower Oil, Castrol...it's all interchangeable.

I am no hippy, but I go out of my way to recycle everything I can. From oil to soda cans. There is no excuse for throwing away aluminum, even if you don't have a curbside recycling pickup in your area. That shit is expensive as hell to produce and a completely recyclable metal. Same goes for plastic, cardboard and shopping bags.

Or you can pour it into the containers that the new old came out of. Takes care of disposing of them, as well as the old oil! \:D/

I was going to say that, too, since I usually reuse them anyway just to gauge how much oil I lost to burnoff, but everyone I tell to use them ******* about how small they are and how they tip over when they are filling them. wah wah wah. Cry me an effin river.

I meant to say new OIL not new OLD.

And I also use it to guage if i've got an oil loss issue....which in 40K, no oil consumption yet!

I've never had an issue with tipping....hell with the 3.7 taking 5 quarts, i get the big 5 quart jug of Mobil 1 from wally world, and put my funnel that I use for filling the engine back up, inside the now empty container, and it goes right in......no mess, and the container doesn't fall over.

I just throw my used oil in my neighbor's yard..........................you should see the "puddle" over there. He thinks he's got an oil well bubbling out of the ground. I just keep telling him to call Mobil.......

Surely am. Many places around here burn their old oil for heat. Its a common thing and is NOT illegal.
O:)

The stuff I dont burn, I pour back into the 5quart jug and take it to my dads work. Which does recycle it. O:)

when uh, a friend was younger he would just park over a storm drain and open the plug and take off the filter. by the time the new filter was in, it was time to put the plug back in.

as for recycling, only if i pass the bin. i refuse to give someone something for free (that's why i don't "donate" blood also), that they are going to turn around and make a profit off of. if they want my aluminum can that i paid for they can dig through my garbage. it's my God given right as a wasteful, wreckless American.

now if our troops were in need or a major disaster were to occure i would be the first to roll up my sleeve or open (however modestly) my wallet.

somebody take this soap box back before i hurt again.
