I am thinking about trading the libby on a 2006 Wrangler X with a 3.5" lift, 33" Goodyear MT/R's, Rancho Shocks, American Racing Rims, 6 disc cd changer, hard top, automatic and much more. I'm still thinking about doing it, I haven't made up my mind if I will or not but man that Wrangler sure looks bad icon996.gif

The one thing is, with the current TJ, there are so many options for lifts and accessories. Just get a Quadratec catalog and see all the options. It will take some time for the after market to catch up for the TK (or JK?).

I'm thinking about a 3" lift and 32" tires on my TJ... when I can come up with the 2k to do it!

I'll add that my average MPG so far on my TJ is in the 14's! 17 once on the highway.

The 07 is the one with the redesigned frame isnt it?

If it is I reccomend avoiding it. Unless thats the 08 that is starting the redesign.

w/e it is

The new wrangler thats coming out without the 4.0 and with the additional 1000# metal is what you should be avoiding.

Thats coming straight from one of the engineers working on the project.

In his own words. "The liberty(KJ) will probably be the last real offroad vehicle that rolls out with the jeep name on it. Just wait until you see some of the horrific things they are doing to ruin the wrangler. Its those damn crash ratings that killed it really, I guess the higher ups are just tired of lookign the other way. The 4.0 is gonna be gone soon as well, just cant pass those emission standards with it.

Edit: The redesigned liberty is also expected to be a huge dissapointment.

Good post.

Here is where I'd like to take my TJ... 3" lift on 32's.

Wait for the 07, best of both worlds, 4 doors, and wrangler.

I was thinking that too but you can get a huge discount if you buy the 06' now because most dealers are trying to get rid of them to make room for the 07. Plus I really like the Jeep inline 4.0 as opposed to the new 3.8L V6 they are using in the 07'. I'm thinking about trading the libby after I get back from vacation in 2 weeks, if I do I will post some pictures of the new toy.

Yea, I was going to tell you that the I-6 is already gone, but you figured it out. We have 2 of them, and I must say I love them. lol3.gif

Not to go off topic, but why doesn't Jeep introduce a new 4.0L ? I thought there was a post somewhere on here or L.O.S.T pertaining to the 4.0 being dropped into a Dodge vehicle (Caliber, Nitro???)

I'd say it's a money issue. They want to use the same engines in as many vehicles as possible to spread out the costs. Just as with the current 3.7, 4.8, 5.7, their found in multiple vehicles across the Dodge, Chrysler, and Jeep platforms.

When I test drove a TJ (before I ordered mine), I also test drove a CRD. The two engines felt a lot a like with that low end torque.

Yeah that is the one, and to think that engine is currently only found in mini-vans ](*,) Now on a more positive note, I was told by a reputable jeep dealer that Chrysler is making improvements to the engine becuase they have to add 4 wheel drive to it. But anyway I still think that the inline 4.0 6 cylinder will out perform this engine in every way.

they are gonna have a 4.0 v6 in a Nitro (option on all all model except R/T which it will come standard)

from all par

The performance-oriented 4.0-liter SOHC V-6 engine, an enhanced version of the reliable 3.5 V6 used on LH cars and the Pacifica, delivers 255 hp (190 kW) at 5,800 rpm and 275 lb.-ft. torque (360 N•m) at 4,000 rpm. The engine provides more power and torque than the 3.5 with emphasis on low- and mid-range operation to meet the needs of the day-to-day driver (so the absolute horsepower ratings do not fully convey its performance). It is one of the quietest engines of its size in the market, and is standard on the Dodge Nitro R/T model.

If it were my choice I would wait until the first 07 wranglers hit the dealers lots and then see what kind of deal I could get on a left over 06 Rubicon and buy it as it is the last of the 4.0 (sigh). - - - But that's me.

(There's a dealer down the street that has a brand new 06 lifted Rubicon with 33's and a Warn mounted on front.........pant pant)

I guess this means I'll have to give back the liberrty after my lease, or I'll never have a chance to get a fairly new TJ.

The 06 leases should be coming up about the same time that I do.

The 3.8 is nothing more than an attempt to balance the emissions across the line.

But why the (*&^ didn't they put it in that piece of trash nitro instead of the TJ.

Does a nitro need that much power?! I think not... What a waste.

Wait for the 07's to come out. That way you will not be disappoited if you really like the 2007 and if you don't you can a good deal on a 2006.
