I have an '04 KJ with a manual ******, 3.7l engine. It's my first Jeep. Ever since new it behaves like it has a weak clutch. By this I mean it lags or bounces when you accelerate. It feels like the springs in the clutch are not strong enough for the weight of the vehicle. Vehicle is maintained properly. Is anyone else out there experiencing this?

or,

Is this just a Jeep thing?

If I'm not mistaken, there is a TSB out for this to be corrected
I believe your ECU needs reflashed

I've had the ecu flashed for the engine stumble and that's been completely cured.
I've driven manuals all my life and I've yet to see a transmission that wants to kangaroo like my liberty. You've got to be really subtle at the top end of the clutch so it doesn't bounce especially when it's a cold start. Slippage is also evident at cold start up until youv'e driven 5K or so.
When the tech took it for a test drive for the ecu flash he never mentioned it so maybe it's just me being fussy.
Thanks for the ideas, I'll monitor it.

Do the manual KJ's have an inspection plate for the clutch?
Could always check it out.
