I wasn't sure you guys knew about the new JBA Headers for the 3.7 Liberty. They're selling them through www.truckperformance.com
I just ordered myself some, it says you can self-install but I'll have the same shop that did my muffler put them on, and I'll let everyone know about the benefits.
Yes, they're a tad expensive, but I also heard that gas will be $4 a gallon this summer, and filling up 16 gallons will be 64 dollars a shot! Even at $3 it's going to sting again.
So, since headers have been proven to increase mileage, by way of the engine not working as hard to generate the power, I think it will balance out. Plus there's nothing wrong with more power the old fashioned way.

Please keep us up to date on your results..and if you wouldn't mind posting the installation costs, that would be great too. I put my own muffler on (no welding), but i would be hesitant to mess around in the engine bay. If I could break even or come close on the mod, it would be something i'd look into.

The ceramic coating reduces under hood temps by %50, up to %70 in some cases. That also puts less stress on your engine and componets. A cooler engine works better. Also by centralizing the heat in the pipes, it becomes accelerated, from what I understand, making the headers work better. And from what I've been able to figure out, the Ti coating versus the silver coating is just a color change. Same coating.

So does anyone have an idea of the best possible gains that will accomodate a header install such as this? Combine it with a full cat-back system (magnaflow) and air intake system (K&N), what type of gains are possible?

As for MPG are we loooking at:
1-3
3-5
7+ , etc....

Thanks! I'm weighing the cost of my current gas purchases versus buying these types of upgrades. I want to have the upgrades pay for themselves by increasing my gas mileage.

Those are a more affordable price, but I think those are for S-10s. The JBA design is brand new this year. I remember reading about the test work being done on someone's rig over on the LOST board.
And I had a mechanic I trust, quote me $130 to install, takes a couple of hours. Now I just need the parts.

Oh that's weird, you're right, the first time I checked it I didn't even get an option for Liberty, the second time it was there.

Okay, so now I owe you a thank you, after getting the right web page, and seeing the costs, I called up Truckperformance and they matched and beat the price by a little bit. I still had to pay tax as they are in California and so am I, but Thank you. =D>

Just a small update on this topic. Looks like there was a backorder for this item, might be sooner, but the site says 6-12 is when it ships.
Just wanted anyone who was intrested to know, so you didn't think I blew this subject off.

ABOUT COATINGS:

I don't know what titanium or chrome does, but stainless steel turns colors under heat. First it turns an attractive gold color, but after awhile it turns blue.

Back order?
Sounds fishy. We're arguably the enthusiasts for these products. We'de be the ones to buy them first. Kind of wierd that - on a site of just KJ enthusiasts - no one has this.
I'd double check with the manufacturer if they even started to produce these. Larger items like this are usually drop-shipped from the manufacturer. The retailer may have offered these up as a catalog peice to be drop shipped - with the manufacturer only prodicing them if demand hits a certain #.
Not to rain on your parade, but I have a feeling these aren't even prodced yet. I'd check with the manufacturer.

Sorry backorder was probably the wrong word. The site has reported them "on order", that can mean a lot of things. Either way, if I never get them, nothing changes, and I don't have to pay.

after thinking about this.. I checked out JBA's website and sure enough it was there... but only for a 2003 and up liberty, maybe they didn't know they came out in 2002.

You must be registered for see images

It would be nice to do a group buy on something like this.

I'd be interested in a group buy...but i have a bad feeling that BoeserBlick is right. I hope there is enough interest/demand that they do someday soon go into production.[/i]

I'm going to call down to JBA and talk to someone, find out if it's just a production delay or what.

Okay, I called JBA and talked to one of the production heads, after being forwarded on from sales. The lowdown on what's going on with the production line is this. They are going to start shipping out the headers in 8-10 weeks. Maybe a week or so more for the coated headers as they do that in house.
What the hold up is the CARB (California Air Resource Board) paperwork and the lawyers, so that they're 50 state legal.
The website I purchased them through was jumping the gun on selling orders, but JBA has a fair amount of orders for headers (3.7 Liberty) already in.
He also mentioned that JBA is getting behind and excited about their entire Jeep lineup coming on line.
He's seen the prototype on several Liberties and seen the dyno results, on average 25 hp.
So it's just a little bit of a wait as they get their ducks in a row.

Just thought everyone would like to know.
