Does anyone know how the Day Star 2.5" Lift, Part #KJ09116 is? Do the Polyurethane 2.5" Coil Spacers Front & Rear compress after a while or is it pretty strong stuff ? As strong as steal? I wouln't be using these for crazy offroading.....just a little here and there. Thanks Jeep 0517

I've only had mine about 2,000 miles or so but I love it so far. Best $177 I've spent on this Jeep yet.

I am only seeing Daystar kits for well over $200 on the web. $249-$277.
This is for kits, am I missing something? Thanks

I got mine from www.rockymountainsusp.com

There is a Daystar kit with 1.5" spacers for the front end, and there is one with 2.5" spacers for the front end. Both kits have the same rear end spacer.

I got the kit with the 1.5" spacers for the front end because it actually levels the Jeep out all the way around. The 2.5" kit makes the front end sit higher than the rear, which I personally think looks stupid. Just my opinion.

The kit I bought is (or was) $171.00.

I put mine in over the weekend, with the Moabs and MTRs it looks like a completely different vehicle.

that's the set i'm going with. do you have any pictures of your jeep? how hard was the install? something a mechanically INCLINED guy could do in his carport? thanks a million.

what is involved with the install?

I only have a few pictures at my cardomain site. www.cardomain.com/ride/2164878

The install isn't too bad but I recommend two guys. It's helpful to have someone hold down that rear axle on each side while you pop the spacers in. The front required a shop press to compress the coil spring so I could take it apart. The tools you rent from AutoZone and places like that wouldn't work on these coils. Overall it's not too terribly bad. Two of us did mine in 4 hours total.

It was 5 hours for me, I was nervous in the days before we did it but it went fine. Definitely not hard to do technically speaking. What is tough is getting the strut assembly back in. The back is less than 30 minutes. You must use extreme caution doing the front strut disassembly. When the springs are compressed, treat them like a loaded and cocked gun, serious...

The Daystar lift kit should come with bumpstops for the front spacers to prevent problems with A-arm contact:

This is the lift on my KJ and I have at least 1/4" of clearance at full droop. I also have the extended upper bump stops which I haven't installed yet (maybe over the long week off I have between Christmas and New Years I'll get that done).

Good question. I don't think so, because its my understanding is that the new top plate is needed to keep the strut from over-extending at full droop; you might be able to use the original plate if you purchased different struts. Eddo or one of the more knowledgeable people may have a better answer. I bought mine used and the front struts came completely assembled with Rancho 17505 struts and I haven't noticed any problems off-road so far (once I figured out that I hadn't tightened all the swaybar links correctly when I installed it).
