Folks,
I’m pondering tire size for my Rustys lifted 03 Liberty. I’ve narrowed my choices down to a 245/75 or 255/70 on the stock 16” aluminum wheels. I want more tire than the stock 235/70 with minimal rubbing and gearing impact. I’m leaning toward the 255/70 for those reasons as it is a little shorter than the 245/75.
Any downside to my thinking??

go for the 245/75s. They'll fit just fine. Depending on the tire you choose, you will rub, or you won't. Most people have minimal rubbing on the fog light door, and pinch weld. (The little thing sticking out in the wheel well, towards the back of the Jeep)

Here is the tire I went with. General Grabber AT2 in 255/70.

And here is how it looks on my lifted Liberty.

I went with the 255 because it was a touch shorter than the 245/75. I wanted the least effect on my gear ratio. My speedometer is still accurate to within 2mph.

I got the tires for $87 each at Tire Rack. So far I'm very pleased. They are quiet and work well off road.

CB 4017, that's a nice ride!!

Are you using stock rims with that (16" x 7")?

If so (they look like the stock rims), are you using any wheel spacers (doesn't look like it), and if not, do you have any rubbing at full lock, or did you have to adjust the wheel stops?

Is that a 2" lift?

Sorry it took so long to get back to you guys.
My lift is the Rusty's 2.5" spring lift.
The wheels are stock and I am not using spacers.
In the front I have slight rubbing at full lock when turning. I believe on the anti-sway bar.
In the rear I have slight rubbing on the inside of the fenderwell at full articulation. I could probably get rid of the rubbing with some extended bump stops.
Overall I'm very pleased with how my rig turned out. Especially since my last 2 tanks of gas have netted 19.5 and 20 mpg.
I think my next mod will be rock rails. I found out the hard way with my last Jeep the cost of fixing a dent is about the same as rails. I'm going to try and get the rails before the dent.
