I never had the goodyears MT/s but my Firestone M/T's are doing awesome, they really haven't even worn at all, since I got them last fall. AND that's saying a lot, since I drive kinda hard.

Generally, the overall idea is that M/T's won't last as long as a A/T tire. But my firestones are kinda extraordinary, since I read some people have gotten over 40k on them..

Had them on my 97 tj. Great tire on and off the road. Expect about 20k to 25k out of the tires (5 tire rotation). They do get noisy though. At first they were fine but after a while I couldn't think in the jeep. Now with a KJ I don't know. My kj only has 13.5k on the odo. right now so it will be a while before I get new meats. May get mt/r's or I may go AT. Not sure yet.

I'm not sure I can trust firestone tires after that recall few years back. How do I know they are not gonna blow up???? :-k
Maybe I consider trying them since you said they last over 40K!

I run the MT/R tires on my Wrangler and my Grand Cherokee. They'll last between 20-25,000 miles, maybe more depending on how you drive.
Good luck finding them in stock right now though, Goodyear is retooling, and they are on national backorder. If you find 31s in stock let me know.
Here is a copy of the reply from Goodyear from another discussion board:

Dear Andrew, Thank you for contacting our website and for being loyal to Goodyear tires! The MT/R's are indeed on national back order
and are scheduled to be ready for distribution to the warehouses on 4/29/2005. The listed Manufacturers List Price is $264.95. We do
not have access to what the retail stores will charge. They all set their own prices.

Firestone is now owned by Bridgestone, if that makes you feel better. Anyways that whole thing that happened awhile back was bunk in my opionion, and Myth Busters on the discovery channel had a hard time repeating what happened. Basically ford underinflated the tires, for a better ride.

2 cents.
