This is not a drawing

Your third picture is not a drawing. It is a photo of an actual full size clay model. DCX has all the latest computer hardware/software available for displaying vehicles. Small 1/24 scale models are made after the initial drawings are approved. Then a full size clay model is ordered to be made for the one they all agree on. They won't make a final decision on whether to build a particular model until they can walk around it and touch it. While they may look at thousands of drawings they only commit to making a full size clay for very few. That clay model is probably the closet thing to what the final vehicle will look like.

Yup! CATIA is VERY cool. I've used it before at the DCX Tech Center in Warren, MI. I am aware of the clay model.... I just didn't write that in. #-o

Bennett, I got them from DaimlerChrysler's media site.

Great post, thanks. I'm amazed how close they were to the actual design 4 years ahead of production!

The rims on the clay model are from the 5.9 Grand Cherokee, 60th Anniversary Cherokee, and I believe 2001 (?) Wrangler Sahara. They are/were 16 inchers.
