Are the CRDs built in the same factory as the other Liberties, or are they different enough to have a separate facility?

Are Liberties built in Detroit, Toledo, or both?

I know the Liberty is made in Toledo, but I don't know where the CRD comes from. The engine may be shipped to the TNAP for production.

I think that I read that the engine comes from Europe somewhere, maybe Italy?, but I beleive that they are assembled in the same place as the others for sale here.

Wow, Europe. I'm sure they have a warehouse full of pre-made here in the States, but I'd hate to be the one who ordered a CRD just when they ran-out and had to get more shipped.

It's just another engine option. There are no other real changes, oh, a different instrument cluster. Nothing big enough to require another assembly plant.

It's built in Toledo where Jeeps should come from! =D>

I agree....wouldn't be right otherwise. \:D/

I wasn't saying the Jeeps were made in Italy, just the CRD motor, in case anyone misunderstood me....just wanted to make sure :-k

I read also that the engine comes from Italy. Not sure that it makes it better or not?

My dad had a diesel Peugeot during the early 80's. Overall the car was well built, but the engine was a piece and gave out at 100k (repair costs were expensive, so the car was junked). I'm not saying that the CRD will have that issue. I for one may buy one!

I have 2003 2.5 CRD which was built in Toledo and shipped to the UK. The engine is Italian and mine is doing pretty good at the moment. \:D/
