The Daystar spacers are the best. Daystar manufactures polyurethane for many applications.
I ran the Daystar spacers on my Jeep WJ for a while, until it was time to go higher.I'm sure they would be fine on a KJ.

I'm ignorant on lift kits.

I would like to raise my KJ a few inches. Not much, no big tires, just a few more inches. I'm not a mechanic but I am an E.E. so I can figure things out. How much is involved in the install of a lift kit? Any good sites to surf to so I can do some research?
Thanks
Alan

Love it.

I've only had mine 2 months, but have been offroad several times. It works as advertised. I like it. Desert Rat, who installed it, told me they were going to recommend it over the Skyjacker after receiving too many complaints from customers and their upper ball joint issues. We'll see how it holds up over time...

Haven't installed it yet mate. I thought I'd wait until the Jeep warrenty ran out in July. I'll also need new tyres about then so it just makes sense to do it all at once (although I hear it calling "fit me, fit me" every time I go into the garage).

When I've got the lift fitted, I'll take pictures and stuff and post 'um.

Alright Gezza,

No, not yet mate. I've just recieved my new tyres (about an hour ago). I went with 245/75 r16 Cooper discoverer ST's and I ordered my ranchos two days ago.

My Jeep goes into the dealer next week for a check up before it's warranty runs out. When it's got a clean bill of health me and my brother will be fitting the kit.

I'm totally excited! \:D/

I'll post pictures when it's done.

Strange that, it's July here too!

I'm fitting the lift on Friday. I've booked the day off work and if all goes well I'll have a report for you (with pictures!). I get my new tyres fitted the weekend after, so I'll update you then as well.

Well, I've fitted the lift. But I got a banging sound from one of the front corners. So my brother and I stripped down the noisey side and rebuilt it making sure everthing was torqued up properly.

There was no improvement in the noise, so we looked a little deeper and noticed the LBJ was clanging about, so it needs to be replaced.

So I can't tell you too much about the ride except the Jeep does feel high. When I got out of it after our test drive I miss judged the extra height like you would miss a step!

Anyway, I'm changing the LBJ this week, so I will be able to drive it soon (hopefully)!

The fitting is not easy. It took me and brother (who is a qualified mechanic) about 10 hours to install the lift. The hardest part was fitting the strut in with the extra 2.5". Getting the bottom clevis bolt in was difficult. But I think it's going to be worth it.

Well I have now made up mind on this lift! I can't live with it! I put it on and the ride went all spongy. It was as if the struts weren't hard enough to damp the front springs due to the extra pressure they were under. When you put the brakes on hard the Jeep rocked backwards and forwards about 4 times before it stopped bouncing. I don't know if the diesel engine weight was an issue, but it wasn't nice.

I have now taken the lift out and the Jeep rides great again. So it isn't the lift for me I'm afraid. I'm now thinking about putting in OME springs, shocks and struts but my wife will take some convincing because she is annoyed that I spent a weekend fitting the lift and then another weekend taking out!

There will soon be a daystar lift kit on the UK ebay.

Oh well, life is full of trying experiences.

Possible I guess, but I think that the only real option is OME because the springs, struts and shocks are all designed to work as a complete package. I also think that OME have been around diesel KJ's longer than anybody in the US market. I think that lifts in the USA aren't on the diesel vibe yet.

I'm also thinking about leaving the Jeep stock and buying a cheap Landrover Defender to play with.

Oh well, decisions, decisions!
