This thread is several months old but I just wanted to share that those were the exact symptoms mine had when one of the cats was clogged. Hope OP got his resolved.

Engine swap stumbling badly 2002 KJ 3.7 2 Whl

It did for me. P0300 code and severe loss of power anytime I gave it more than gentle throttle. Fuel trims were out of wack on one side even after all new 02 sensors too. Cat was basically gravel inside.

How long did your 42RLE automatic transmission last before it blew up?

I did vote. I suspect in my case the failure was due to clutch material accumulating in the filter material and blocking fluid flow, leading to more slipping on the highway and more material to clog the filter. When it failed I found I could let it sit for several minutes and restart it, and...

How long did your 42RLE automatic transmission last before it blew up?

My 04 liberty lasted until it left me stranded on the side of the highway at 269,000. Third gear clutches were toast. Put a junkyard unit in with 120k on it and crossed my fingers a couple months ago.

Engine swap stumbling badly 2002 KJ 3.7 2 Whl

When mine acted like this it was a clogged catalyst on the passenger side. Do your plugs look dirtier or darker on one side of the engine vs the other? I drilled a small hole just upstream of each cat and used an endoscope to look inside, one of them was all broken up and clogged in the front...

    Misfire

Dunno if OP ever got his sorted out, but I did mine that was doing the same. Replaced all 4 O2 sensors, jeep ran great under 2k rpms now but still has no power. Turns out the passenger side catalytic converter was in pieces and clogged partially, no doubt damage caused by running with the...

    Misfire

Chiming in to say I'm currently chasing down what seems like the same problem in my 04 sport. Had o2 sensor codes on in the background for months, yesterday on the way home from town the truck suddenly has no power, CEL flashing on and off, bucking under partial throttle, and gas mileage goes...

    Replacing radiator

I just did this job yesterday after the aftermarket radiator the PO installed blew a 4" long crack in the drivers side tank, spraying coolant all over the whole engine bay. I replaced it with a Mopar one from rockauto (~180 shipped after discount code). It wasn't bad, the hardest part is dealing...

    Coolant filler neck mystery seal?

Yeah if you could give it a quick look sometime today that would be cool, thanks. In any case that old cracked mystery seal clearly wasn't doing anything to help hold pressure in the condition that it was it so I'm no too worried about it :laughing1:

    Coolant filler neck mystery seal?

Here's a pic of the old cap and the mystery seal that came out of the bottom of the filler neck. The seal in question is narrower in profile than the one on the bottom of the cap, and is molded in an 'L' shape such that it's wider around the edge and then has a flat lip in the center section...

    Coolant filler neck mystery seal?

Yeah I know this. The place I'm talking about is the lower seal area, where the spring loaded plunger seals against the bottom of the filler neck, not the one up around the top edge of the cap. Both seals were still intact on the old cap though.

    Coolant filler neck mystery seal?

See I had that same thought at first, but the seal was still attached to the old cap when I pulled it off. Also upon pulling the seal out of the filler neck and comparing it to the one on the new and old caps, it's a different design- not just the flat rubber ring that the caps have. In any...

    Coolant filler neck mystery seal?

So I recently got myself a 2004 4x4 Sport edition, and this weekend got around to doing a lot of the basic maintenance/fiddling around that comes with a new (used) vehicle. Upon going to replace the radiator cap (coolant cap? Its not on the radiator so...) I noticed something odd and wondered if...
