How To: Change front driveshaft / change a driveshaft head

i just want to verify which way the front/differential side is supposed to go in. The video i watched showed the side with the raised edge (pict 1) going away from the differential and the flat side (pict 2) towards the differential. Thanks.

How To: Change front driveshaft / change a driveshaft head

So finally got to install it today. Changed both front and rear heads on the shaft and took for test drive. I can hear a hum in 4wd (part time or full time) from the front differential while driving. Additionally when I am stopped the humming is louder and I get a vibration bad enough that I...

How To: Change front driveshaft / change a driveshaft head

Question on the front driveshaft head (one the that looks like a torpedo nose/connects to front differential). My helper (I would fire him but he is only 6) hit the very top of it with a hammer so now the nose is dented in. Is this an issue or can I still use it? It is all assembled and ready...

    General Grabber AT2 questions

I second the grabbers. I got close to 60k on them and they were still good, a nail did them in because the tire shop would not repair a tire with that many miles on them. Tried to go lighter since (they are a little on the heavy side) for gas mileage and have regretted that decision (kuhmo then...

    Front axle seals. Super stumped...

I changed the driver's side and Midas did the passenger side. It was only one seal a piece and it was on the outside. I did not open pumpkin nor did Midas. It is a ***** to remove on driver's side and passenger side is harder since it is recessed. I am far from an expert so hopefully others...

    Suspension pop?

So it is fixed now. Lower control arm nuts were loose. Midas tried to say they did not do it but agreed to give me a free alignment + other stuff to compensate. Took 5 tries to get the alignment right. Needless to say I will not be back, even for the free stuff...

Bad Grinding from Front Left when put into 4WD

I had a similar problem and turned out driver's cv axle was going bad. Once I changed it out I did not have any more issues. When was last time you changed transfer case fluid?

    Suspension pop?

Think I may have found the problem. On the lower control arm the nuts do not appear to have been torqued down to 120 ft-lbs. You don't have to touch them for changing the cv axle or axle seal (the work Midas did) so I didn't think to check them until I noticed it looked different than driver...

    Suspension pop?

Thanks. already replaced links, no change, that is why I am going to try bushings now. I hate just part changing but not sure what else to do.

    Suspension pop?

Don't believe I swapped the strut mounts but shop assembled them so I assumed they did it right. I replaced swaybar bushings 2 years ago but that's fairly cheap so I will give it a try.

    Suspension pop?

So I have still have the pop, I also now get some noise, sounds like things trying to align, from the differential on the first backup of the day (fine after that). I haven't changed anything since I last posted. Thoughts on differential noise? Also could the pop be caused by a bad engine mount?

    Suspension pop?

Don't think alignment is bad as I got an alignment about 9 months ago and it drives straight/no pulling + tires are wearing evenly

    Suspension pop?

The intermediate shaft in there now is the oem one. I couldn't get it apart so I took it as a whole to the axle shop and it came back that way as well. Didn't try to pull it apart when I got it back from the shop as I knew it was all going back in anyways. They said whole assembly looked good...
