    Burning/losing oil

My 2002 Jeep Liberty Sport seems to be either burning or losing oil pretty quickly. I'm putting in about 3 quarts in between oil changes, but I'm not driving very regularly either. No white smoke or anything. Not seeing any leaks on ground. Is this normal or excessive? Anybody have these...

OK, figured it out. Put it together, installed it, and took it for a spin. Works great! Thanks for everyone's help on this!

How To: Change front driveshaft / change a driveshaft head

Question: My replacement came with 1 gasket. Does it go on the boot side or the x-fer case side of the joint? They sent the wrong instructions in the box

How To: Change front driveshaft / change a driveshaft head

Ok, now I don't feel such like a pansy. I took it to the mechanic who was changing the oil in my other car and said, "good luck!" They had 3 guys on it, with a gear puller, they put the gun on it, nothing. Then one says, "bring me the torch" They ended up just burning off the old CV joint. I'm...

How To: Change front driveshaft / change a driveshaft head

I typed in the Mopar parts number, and I got this one too. FRONT DRIVESHAFT 52111597AA - Automotive Parts Unlimited $270 isn't that bad if it is the same part number that the dealers are charging $495 for.

How To: Change front driveshaft / change a driveshaft head

According to the Mopar Parts site, the automatic and manual drive shafts should be the same. Thanks for the info. Christ, now I got to wench the damn thing off. Maybe I can take it to a mechanic who will just take it off for me. Hope I haven't damaged the thing by beating the hell out of...

How To: Change front driveshaft / change a driveshaft head

Yah, this is what I thought. I'm sure this would work. But at this point, I've bought or being asked to buy/rent: A high quality snap ring plier PB Blaster A vise A gear puller A wire brush And I'm still left with a crappy drive shaft with a nice new CV joint. Considering the whole drive...

    Need help with weird rattle

So, I asked in the "How to" section as well. My CV joint is rusted like a **** onto the end. I've tried hammering the thing off and it won't budge. I've removed the retaining ring, but it just seems to not want to go anywhere. Anybody have this issue? Any ideas? At this point, I'm just...

How To: Change front driveshaft / change a driveshaft head

Need help Sorry fellas, I've tried and I'm calling it unless someone can help me. Dropped it out of the jeep easy enough. However, I can't get the old CV joint off of the drive shaft for the life of me. I took off the cap, removed the retaining clip. But the boot was gone, absolutely gone...

    Need help with weird rattle

Awesome. Took it out this morning. Loved the tutorial. Funny everyone had trouble removing the shaft after the bolts were out. Mine was just the opposite. I couldn't get the jeep to jack up properly, it rolled sideways one me once, so I just left it on the ground and pushed the car to turn...

    Need help with weird rattle

Well played my man, well played. My next question: Is it safe to drive a little while like this until I get the part? Or should I park it? http://www.flickr.com/photos/92821388@N00/9104676216/ Sorry, pic is blurry. Too lazy to grab a flashlight for the focus. You were right: It's shredded.

    Need help with weird rattle

Hey all, I have a 2002 Jeep Liberty Sport 4X4. Lately, the weirdest problem has arisen and I can't track it down. If I drive an extended time, like over a half hour shuttling around town, but it varies, a rattle starts growing from underneath the car. Eventually, it gets louder to where it...
