65 Corvair's Steel Front Diff Build

Not yet, I have not worked on this for a while. I still need to figure out how to attach the driver's side mount to the cast housing. I want to try to avoid welding on the cast housing near the pinion bearing area. If there are any updates, I will be sure to post it.

The covers are different. In the picture is a regular Dana 30 Lube Locker gasket on a Liberty Dana 30A Housing.

Tow package question - got a new Libby :)

The towing packages also came with a power steering cooler on the driver's side of the cooling package. You should be able to see it in the grille pretty easily.

    RLE Trans downshift issue

I am not a transmission expert, but the clunk from reverse to drive may be the upper ball joint (#2) or rubber bushing (#1) in the rear upper control arm.

    LCA snapped in half

Even more interesting though it is damaged on the rear side of the lower control arm. If you had hit the pole going forward, I would think it would have broken near the sway bar mounting. Are these the original Mopar LCAs? If not, what brand? If they are original, how many miles on them? Glad...

    Simple Rock Sliders

Looks like a great first welding project. Did you put caps on the ends to prevent the tubes from filling up with dirt/gravel?

Don't think oil and filter will fix it

I think you should be fine to swap in the transmission for the Dodge. Is the Dodge a 4WD or 2WD truck, you will have to move over the transfer case adapter if it is a 2WD. Given the TCM takes care of all the shifting there should be no issues with that.

    Iron Rock Control Arm Wrenches

I put the .dxf files out for anyone to use. You can have them made by wherever or whoever you want. I like sendcutsend, since it is easy and convenient to use. But if you know someone with a CNC plasma or laser, feel free to have them make it for you. Large Wrench.dxf Small Wrench.dxf I enjoy...

    Iron Rock Control Arm Wrenches

I created some .DXF files for wrenches for people to use. These wrenches are designed to fit the Iron Rock upper and lower control arm nuts. They have a 1/2 square for a breaker bar or ratchet. No analysis was run on these for stress/strain, I just made what I thought "looks" right in a few min...

Custom sheet metal fabrication: brackets, flanges, odds and ends

I agree with you. I have used send cut send for parts for the Jeep and other projects. They are a great way to get custom parts quickly. (If you can make .DXF files) Some example parts for the steel diff build. https://www.jeepkj.com/threads/65-corvairs-steel-front-diff-build.79534/post-808561

65 Corvair's Steel Front Diff Build

I just got the low pinion mounted in tonight, the position is nearly identical to the original aluminum housing. Using 5012444AA Pinion Flange, the front driveshaft fits perfect. Next step is to measure up for the driver's side mount and get it designed.
