    Interior overhead light issue..

Thanks... I've now added that tidbit to my slowly growing knowledge of my Liberty. We bought this new, in '02, and it has been, at least up until recently, essentially bullet proof.

    Interior overhead light issue..

Thanks guys... the suggestions will give me a place to start. Hopefully, it's just something simple (read not expensive) to repair. And please forgive my ignorance, but... the multifunction switch, is that the headlight switch on the column?

    Interior overhead light issue..

Actually not in the interior, but on occasion, the rear door and hatch won't open. Again, it's intermittent, just happens randomly. The hatch is an annoyance, but the interior lights suddenly coming on, particularly on a dark night, creates a safety concern for me... kinda makes it hard to...

    Interior overhead light issue..

I've already done a "search" for a thread regarding this problem, but found nothing that I could see addressing it specifically. Of course, I could be blind... It seems that all of the interior lights in my '02 Liberty Limited will sporadically turn themselves on and off, or won’t turn off...

A factory alternative to aftermarket wheels...

Thanks, I Know what you mean about how ghastly way oversized wheel/tire combinations can get... Donks come to mind. For the type of off-road "adventures" I engage in, this set-up works well...and looks pretty good too.

A factory alternative to aftermarket wheels...

I am the original owner of an '02 Liberty Limited. When it came time to replace the tires a few years back, I was looking for a way to save a buck or two. Well, I also own an '07 Magnum and I'd swapped out the stock 18" alloys for a set of the Challenger SRT wheels and tires... so, I...

What did you do to your jeep today?

Flushed and refilled the cooling system, got all the gunk out... and while at it, replaced the cracked radiator, upper and lower hoses and the thermostat

    Cracked radiator...

I guess your thoughts make good sense... Until my daughter began driving the Jeep, most of the miles put on it were from my wife driving less than a mile, round-trip, to and from work. I suppose it goes without saying, the thermostat rarely, if ever opened on those trips. Like I said in my...

    Cracked radiator...

Thanks for your advice, I'll pay the little extra for the piece of mind. BTW, I am the original owner and the Jeep has been serviced exclusively at the dealer from which we purchased it. It has just over 50,000 miles on it now and the cooling system had been flushed and refilled at...

    Cracked radiator...

This evening, my daughter mentioned she saw smoke coming from under the hood of our 2002 Liberty. Turns out the "smoke" was actually steam, coming from what appears to be a small crack in the right tank of the radiator, near the upper radiator hose inlet. At first, I thought it might have been...

What did you do to your jeep today?

Thanks for the heads up... I didn't think that might have been the problem. I originally had the flush done at the dealer, and foolish me, ASSUMED they would use the proper coolant. Having just had it done again, I should check and make sure the coolant this shop used was "the right stuff".

What did you do to your jeep today?

Well, I had the cooling system flushed and refilled with fresh coolant... wadda mess! I have an '02 Liberty with only 50 thousand and change miles on it, and had the coolant flush done at about 30,000. The "slop" that came out of the system today looked like nasty hot chocolate, with lumps of...

My rear axle seals are leaking..

Then I'll have to get it done ASAP... thanks for the heads up.

My rear axle seals are leaking..

... or at least that's what the dealer's service writer told me yesterday. I haven't seen any evidence of leaks... there's no oil I can see on the back side of the wheels or backing plates, and there don't seem to be any issues with the brakes... BUT, I don't want to take a chance with the...

    Ugh...

Thanks, I'll look into at least having the accumulator installed, using upgraded bolts. I feel as though I dodged a bullet... the cost of using better fasteners is cheap insurance.

    Ugh...

Er, ahhh... yeah, that's it, I can time travel... that's it. My bad, math skillz have always eluded me... and I can see, they haven't mproved any with age. We bought ours almost as soon as they were released and I was "rounding up". Apparently, I got a little carried away... so, for...

    Ugh...

As much as I'd prefer to do my own simple maintenance, I can't. As a result of a neurological injury, I've been left with a case of terminal fumble fingers, aka GBS Syndrome. While I'd save money on the labor, I'd just spend what I saved at the doctors office... (lol) I have been thinking...

    Ugh...

For the last 12 years, I've bragged on my '02 Liberty Limited, telling anyone who'd stand still long enough, that it's virtually bullet proof... that absolutely nothin' has ever broken on it. Of course, with only 45,000 miles on it, nothing should've broken, right? Anyway, I took it in for...

    Forgive my ignorance... please!

Well... good news! I spoke with a representative of Superflow.com and he said the drive shaft disconnect IS available. Apparently, the owner of Remco retired and sold his business, part to Superflow, which manufactures the disconnects. They can be reached through the Remco website. (the...

    Forgive my ignorance... please!

I've checked Remco's wbsite and saw no listing for a disconnect kit for my Jeep... my understanding is they quit making them. I've sent an E-Mail, asking if it's something off catalog they could build... I'm not expecting a response until after the holidays. In the meantime, I'm keeping my...
