    2002 Jeep Liberty Limited 4x4

Update! Ok, this KJ is in NJ now. Specifically, it's at McGuire AFB. I'm willing to drive a little way to meet if someone's interested enough. Asking $9500. Email me at jeeperjk @ gmail.com and we'll work something out. Just under 56k miles now.

    Electrical issue

I'm hoping someone else here has experienced the same issues as I am now and can help. I just picked up my KJ from shipping (it went from Guam to NJ) and now the stereo won't come on. I noticed it before I left the shipper and pulled the OM to see that it and the power lock switches are on...

    Oil light / idiot light

Thanks for the help, guys (and gal). You've got me wondering with that sensor talk. How expensive is the sensor and is it something that a novice mechanic (or probably one rung below a novice) can accomplish?

    Oil light / idiot light

Lately, my oil light has been coming on at random times. It was a little bit low, but I topped it off and it has still come on a couple times since then. I put Royal Purple in it last change and had planned on going about 7,500 miles before changing it again. Is the KJ "smart" enough to be...

Ok, tell me why I shouldn't...

Why is that? Does the KJ need an adapter or something?

Ok, tell me why I shouldn't...

All good points. I think I could deal with $18k or so, but that $24,500 figure looks scary. That's almost as much as I'll have in my Rubicon that I've got on order. Granted it won't be on 35's from the factory, but it can be for a few $k more. This is something that I doubt I'll really do...

Ok, tell me why I shouldn't...

Ok, here's the deal. I've got a 2009 JK Rubicon on order, but got to thinking. What would it take to put my '02 KJ up on 35's? I could probably get the TJ D44's with Ox lockers for ~$5k +/- a few. Atlas 2spd for ~$2300 or 4spd for ~$3000. I'm assuming I'd need new driveshafts...

    The Royal Treatment

Well, this time, since I was doing front/rear diffs, I had 4 quarts of fluid. I just squirted the "top" ~1/3 of 3 bottles into the front and used the rest for the rear. I guess I could've asked the guys at the hobby shop for a pump, but it never crossed my mind. I'm a newbie at this...

I stand corrected, it was Castrol.

    The Royal Treatment

Just got done giving my KJ the "royal treatment" earlier today. Changed out the front/rear diffs and engine oil and gave her the Royal Purple stuff. That front diff is a BEOTCH to fill. Any tips for next time? Let me know what you guys do and I'll tell you how I ended up doing it this...

    Flat towing

Like I said, just thinking ahead. I've never run larger than 33's and those were boggers on a Ranger. I guess if I get a little less agressive design it probably won't be so bad.

    Flat towing

Ok, for now, I'll just have to go with it. I don't even know where I'm gonna be stationed next. All I know is that if I'm in the States, I wanna hit Moab at least while I'm in the States. Hopefully, I'll be somewhere in the West, Midwest, or Southwest and even then the bases I'm likely to be...

    Flat towing

I'll know better once I get it. Honestly, now I'm just thinking ahead. Not sure I want to ride far on 37's though. Plus, the added benefit is that when we finally got to the spot to wheel, if the wifey and kids didn't want to wheel one day, they could go off and do whatever it is that wives...

    Flat towing

Thanks. I guess the KJ isn't the best thing to do it with. After I posted I searched a bit and found more info. Looks like the general consensus is that that heavy of a pull w/o breaking on the towed trailer/vehicle makes it really difficult to stop. I'll probably look for something bigger...

    Flat towing

I've got a 2009 JK Rubicon on order. I'll probably end up in the States somewhere when I leave here (Guam) this summer/fall. Thinking of putting the JK up on 37's and then I'm not sure I'd want to drive it far to wheel. First question, do you think my '02 KJ will flat tow the JK with no...

    JK Unlimited Rubicon

I'm about to take the plunge, too. Thinkin' on ordering an '09 Rubicon Unlimited as soon as the specs come out for dealers to order. I'll have the KJ still for the wife. When we get tired of it, I think I'm gonna talk her into a Grand Cherokee SRT8!

    3rd row seats

Well, I guess nevermind, guys. I got a letter from the company that said they designed one for the KJ (ok, they said Liberty). Keep an eye out for it if you want. I'll try to come in here and post up some pics if I get one. Side facing only, as expected, 'cause there's no room in the back of...
