CRD timing tools to rent? Anyone? (Midwest)

That looks like a good alternative. Love to hear if someone has given this a try. I made a TDI tool, worked ok, but would much rather lock the cam gears up when trying to torque the bolt.

    Back driver side brake grabs

Did you get the rotor on flat against the mating surface? Did you torque the lug nuts the same. Either can cause runout on the rotor. Runout is when the rotor disk doesn't rotate true and acutally wobbles. You'll get uneven wear on the pads. Even a small amount of runnout can result in pulsing...

How many miles on your diesel?

114k and going strong. Just make sure it has the timing belt replaced, or it should be the first thing on your todo list. Lots of good CRD info over on Lostkjs.com

    Part Time 4wd light

Mine became misaligned, lived with it for a couple of months, went offroad and cycled the handle into and out of 4lo a couple dozen times during the day and by the end of the day it was working normally again. Been about a year now, no problems.

Swapping Seats. What Years Interchange ?

I swapped seats from an 04 into my 05 and had to swap the airbag sensor between the two. Very simple to swap them.

    Siping tires

I sipped my first set of used MTR's with a box knife. Jacked up the vehicle, set a stool in place in front of the tire, and set the depth of the cut based on the tread. mark the beginning and just keep rotating the tire until you reach where you started. Cuts don't look like much until...

    Letter M

What's the name of the dealer you bought it from? I always remove the dealership advertising when I buy a vehicle. I'd be more than happy to leave it on ... for a yearly fee ;-)

    ABS Light on/off again!?

If you've been through some mud recently, take it to the car wash and shoot the hubs thoroughly. Might just be the sensors are partially fouled. I had this happen before where they were fine driving around town, but higher speeds the ABS and brake light would pop on. stop, shut down, restart...

    Cabin Air Filter 04?

I don't believe any KJ's had cabin air filters from the factory. There is a thread around here, where the user added a foam filter to the opening under the plastic cowl piece under the wiper arms.

    HiLift tailgate mount

Put together this mount so I could get the hi-lift out from under the backseat on wheeling trips. Used a piece of channel, I got from Tractor Supply. Had to grind down the bolt ends to get a tight fit in the channel, used a nut on the other side. Tail gate is curved, used 5 stainless...

    Dana 30a...

Not sure what kind of stresses you'd get with an LSD when one wheel was off the ground, but IMHO, a selectable locker will decrease the chance of the diff blowing up, (that is if you remember to engage it:) When both wheels are spinning at the same speed, you should have relatively constant and...

jo6pak -- diff is pretty well tucked up, possible but improbable to break it by coming down hard on something. Beside, Jayme has full skids. known issue with any vehicle with aluminium diff. H3's and chevy 4x4 pickups have the same issue. When the front diff is open, you can get different...
