    Hesitation in shifting while cold

Change the AT fluid and report back. If you aren't a mechanical guy have a shop do it and change the filter but don't have a flush done as you don't know if that fluid has ever been changed or the overall state of things. And before that, go ahead and pull the dipstick when the car is hot and...

Liberty KJ 3.7l P0442 causing misfire?

I bet it is just bad luck/coincidence. You need to check the vacuum lines near the fuel tank first (after verifying the cap is good). A very small split near the charcoal canister will cause this problem. Another problem area are vacuum lines near the battery and immediately under the driver's...

Slow oil leak near front driveshaft?

Hey all - I've been doing a lot of routine maintenance in my Jeep lately (03 KJ Limited with 170k miles) with the hopes of getting another solid 10k miles out if it before moving on. It runs amazingly well. However, I do have a nagging oil leak (not enough to require more oil during normal...

Downstream 02 high disables cruise control?

The vacuum line that runs from the cc unit (near the coolant overflow tank) is partially hard plastic and gets brittle. Start by tracing that vacuum line and if broken, simply replace with wiper fluid hose or the like. My cruise stopped working after I replaced the passenger side valve gasket...

    2002 Limited Charging System Issue

Are you sure the alternator is still okay? I thought the load tests at the parts shops don't work perfectly on our jeeps. I recently swapped my alternator (brand new nippondenso 136 amp for $84 shipped) and all is well.... Have you used a multimeter on the positive terminal on the alternator...

2003 Liberty P0300, the dreaded multiple misfires

actually, after clearing the codes, they never reappeared and my Jeep has been running marvelously. 167k miles now! I do appear to have a small drivers side valve gasket leak so I will change plugs at that time using NGK coppers most likely Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    cooling system problem

LOL - oops, I thought I was on another forum. Yeah, the bleed is on the upper radiator hose (right side of engine). Did the water pump go as well? What else could cause a "clog" like this? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    cooling system problem

Sounds like you have a lot of air in there! You need to "burp" the system and get things moving again. On another car I've kept the coolant overflow cap open while the car is running - that helps get the air out. Also, I have done coolant on the RS4 but most cars have a coolant bleed bolt that...

Transfer case question - no 2wd?

Yup, I used to use 4WD much more frequently until I moved to SoCal about 2.5 years ago. Now, on to that bushing -- man the OEM replacement is kinda pricey for what it is. I am not going to order anything until I can get under there and take a look...I might go with one of the more durable...

Transfer case question - no 2wd?

^^Thanks - I must be in 2WD which is just fine by me until I fix the issue. I think the transfer cable shifter bushing failed on me as I found a torn piece of rubber under the Jeep that looked very similar to this.

Transfer case question - no 2wd?

Hmm...okay, thanks for the reply. I don't mind leaving as is for a week or so until I have a chance to repair. I just want to make sure I don't damage the diffs. While I know I can't fully trust the t-case switch to read properly, I am nervous that putting it in the 2wd position illuminates...

Transfer case question - no 2wd?

Guys: I pretty much drive 98% of the time in 2WD. Last time I used 4WD Full Time was about 2-3 months ago. I never use 4WD Part Time or Lo. It's been ~2 years since I changed diff and transfer case oil, so I'll get on that soon. Yesterday I was cleaning the inside of my Liberty (car off) and...

I just ordered new plugs as well -- FYI, Rockauto has the Bosch Platinum+2 plugs on closeout at less than half the price of anywhere else. 2003 JEEP LIBERTY 3.7L V6 Spark Plug | RockAuto

2003 Liberty P0300, the dreaded multiple misfires

Funny, just this morning my '03 Jeep Liberty 3.7L threw a P0300, P0302, and P0303. It has 161K miles and is running great. I just changed the oil, air filter, brake fluid, and front rotors this weekend, but doubt any of this is related. I changed the PVC at the last oil change. I haven't changed...

    Coolant leak

Look at the lower hose near the thermostat. I had a small leak from that joint. Replaced the hose and clamp and all is well. Also check out the overflow reservoir and make sure the hoses are seated right. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
