Downstream 02 high disables cruise control?

It was disconnected from the brake booster hose. It seems this line, brake switch, clock spring, and the actual cruise diaphragm are the fail points. It also fixed AC. I'm glad it wasn't main harness or clock spring..

Downstream 02 high disables cruise control?

Looked at mine today. The only line that isn't a big thick SAE hose crimped to metal pipe is that vacuum line(?) on the cruise servo I felt it and it felt good but I'm going to mess with it more tomorrow and probably just put a new SAE hose matching diameter or slightly smaller on it; I think...

    3.7L Performance

When I was first shopping for a Liberty a local guy had a 2002 with a supercharger on it. I never asked what the vendor was. You can get a bolt on cat-back for <$200 and magnaflow for $350. I like mandrel bent aluminium catback with a flowmaster 70 series personally. There are HID...

Downstream 02 high disables cruise control?

My 03 Sport 4x4 V6 Auto came with cruise control. It lights up when I click On but does nothing on set, cancel, resume, and coast. My only code is from the downstream sensor being disconnected(it's the high code because it defaults to high). My AC also isn't charged and defaults to defrost vents...

How long will a typical Jeep Liberty engine last?

I would love to put one of those fresh $3,000-$4,500 crate engines in mine but even with my "great job" I have to go with LKQ warrantied engines for <$2,000 and spend a while putting it in because of work. Without spending 60+ hours at work I can put it in within a couple days just using a...

    Rear wiper?

It's 9" but 10" works. I've measured. Oreilly's has 10" on the shelf and I don't think anyone else does..

    2002 KJ 3.7L - *BRAND* of Gas

I don't know first-hand so you may be right. Here are the only additives I know of: BP Invigorate Chevron Techron Exxon Synergy Shell Nitrogen(never actually seen it at a station only Vpower)

    2002 KJ 3.7L - *BRAND* of Gas

Many credible people at bobtheoilguy who work in the field said drivers control everything except the gas and ethanol stages and often times don't even do it. I guess there is a silo they drive under, but it's supposedly added after the fill per-gallon.

    2002 KJ 3.7L - *BRAND* of Gas

I was only pointing out it's all the same stuff and the truck drivers just dump a scoop of detergent in on fill-up based on destination, and they sometimes don't even do it. Bad gas usually is a result of poor quality tanks at stations.

    Rusted Rockers

drill drain holes and use a cheap spray gun to coat the inside with motor oil.. Maybe that black "miracle" paint instead of oil? The motor oil idea I've heard a few body shop guys suggest. Heavy use of epoxy-primer doesn't work though.

    2002 KJ 3.7L - *BRAND* of Gas

They don't make invigorate or techron or have anything to do with truck driver error.. I doubt they have some trade-secret in fossil fuel refinery either.. Most problems come from the stations and their up-keep on the tanks. You can safely say it's the same stuff when it's pored in to the...

How long will a typical Jeep Liberty engine last?

I see valve and main-bearing problems usually around 150k. These have a weird problem with oil pressure. Timing chain tensioners also have a kind of trend of failing..

    2002 KJ 3.7L - *BRAND* of Gas

Torque reports around 21MPG long-term-average and I get almost 17 using my trip counter and assuming the light comes on at 3Gal like most vehicles and taking risks. I'm all stock with 225/75/16 radials. You guys should read my post here or just go ask people really in to this stuff at...

    2002 KJ 3.7L - *BRAND* of Gas

The tanker drivers dump a scoop of detergent in when they leave the refinery. Something I learned from some very credible people on bobtheoilguy forums.. ..sometimes they do ..sometimes they don't ..sometimes they dump the wrong detergent I think BP Invigorate and Chevron Techron are the two...

    Engine knocking/clicking 03 Liberty

If it's timing chain tensioners or main bearings just swap a used LKQ engine in; $1,200 gets you 120k with a warranty. Anything in the head(worn valve seat, worn lashing, worn spring(these are OHC engines)) just replace the whole head with a rebuilt and new hardware. The belt tensioner is cheap...

Where are the fail-points for oil pressure?

Yeah I could change it easily on a day off, but the fluids and a quality timing chain kit will cost hundreds(I don't know the OEM numbers but aftermarkets are around $300), and this seems to occur less than 100k intervals.

Where are the fail-points for oil pressure?

I had one 3.7 go from main bearings not getting enough oil, and now have another that has annoying timing chain and valve rattle when cold. Where are the failure points? My guesses: Oil Pickup tube clogging do to shield design Sending unit leakage Obscured channel design restricting flow The...

    Warped rotors

disc brakes are so easy to completely replace you'll be amazed and good quality parts for the whole job run up to $300 for everything needed. 4x calipers, 4x pad sets, 4x discs, OEM fluid, and maybe the grease and boots for caliper rails. First time I ever did them was in the dark with "poor...

Replaced my thermostat now worse than before.

The OEM thermostat is around the same or less as aftermarket and far better quality.. I know with some things from parts houses after-market are actually better(like PCMs that don't blow drivers as easy) but not this. Backflush, fill with 50/50 zerex g-05, and replace the temp sensor on top of...
