Is it safe to drive without the front drive shaft for a few weeks? Year is 2004. Unsure what transfer case I have. 231 I'm guessing. It does not have full-time 4wd I just don't want to buy the parts locally, when I can order online for 1/3 of the cost.

2004 just developed this strange metallic sounding rattle. Sound is up front. Can't really pinpoint if its coming from the center or more towards driver side, passenger seems to think its more passenger side. Can't really tell if its coming from inside or outside. If I open my window I can't...
